Waiting for tomorrow to come so I can get my Dragon Age: Origins on. I loves me some Bioware.
Definitely a game I want, but it's amazing how bad the trailers/ads are that EA has been pushing out lately. You'd be forgiven for thinking it's a cheesy medieval slasher game. (And the Brütal legend trailer is incredibly bad too, including spoilers and really shitty music in a game all about really awesome music and a fantastic story that certainly shouldn't be spoiled.)

But anyway, when i went to shop to pre-order Dragon Age, it turns out the same deal was available for Bayonetta, so I preordered that instead.
Resident Evil 5 on Professional is really damn hard.

It's Contra Hard Corps-hard.

1 hit, you die and the "dying"-time is way too short. I guess this impossible with the normal AI.
It is pretty intense, you just have to get really good with some of the more powerful weapons and use transferred weapons from a better save.
Since Activision/Infinity Ward are being total fucking huge asshole douchebags to the PC crowd in terms of Modern Warfare 2, I'm going to TERMINATE my pre-order of MW2 on wednesday.

Thank you for ruining my (by a huge marging/only really) most anticipated game of 2009.
What did they do? It makes plenty of business sense to do so with how low the income return is on the PC gaming market, but I haven't heard how they're doing anything different with the PC version than the console versions.

Much better choice. I'm playing the Japanese version right now and it is easily one of my top 5 games of the year and I've played a HELL of a lot of games this year.

Finally got around to buying Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. I'll be playing that over the next few days, so I'll post a review once I've played enough to form an opinion. I'm hoping it takes the good parts from Chain of Memories and mashes that with the good parts of the console games, but... eh, my hopes aren't super high, I just have a nostalgic spot for the franchise.

Anyone else playing it/going to play it/already played it? (woohoo, covered all my verb tenses there) I want to know if I should straight-up return it before I tear into the box...

I thought it was a good platformer, but it has no story and about two hundred cutscenes of Roxas and Other-X-Infused-Named-Cult-Member(s) sitting and eating ice cream. I am not exaggerating. The equipment system is genuinely neat and challenging, but you'll get tired of the repetitive levels, mission types, and general lethargy the game exhumes. Still, if you like to attack, jump, and jump-and-then-attack, this will be decently fun.

They removed the possibility to have dedicated servers and there will be absolutely no mod support. Two things that make no sense to remove from the PC version, but instead they made some new IWNet thing that can't do any of those two things. Also, it's price tag is 10€ or 15€ more than most other new released games on the PC.

Some people also can't stand the decision that it's bound to Steam, but I don't have a problem with that.

What's next ? Removing mouse support, so we have to play a FPS with a gamepad !?

I really do not want to support such a company and I'm also not going to pirate it, because I say 'Fuck this shit'.

That's almost what Borderlands for PC is like! Until I found that mouse-smoothing fix, I was tempted to plug my 360 controller into the PC like I did with Batman...

I started playing Batman, but even though it was really good as far as I played it, it was too hard for me, so I got too frustrated with it. I took it back so I could afford Borderlands. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Played 3~4 hours of Dragon Age and I'm not really intrigued to play actually.

The characters (even my own one, which does not talk at all during dialogue [a huge step back from Commander Shepard in Mass Effect]) don't interest me at all and seem to not even try to be friends with me.

I started as a dalish elf and my best friend already died, but I just don't really care at all. The "keeper" (some kind of chief of my tribe) talks like a dead person without any emotions and her face expression is a weird mixture of sad/emotionless.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, not being able to qeue commands during a combat pause is just a really dumb design decision.

Finally got a computer that isn't using a celeron processor or an integrated graphics chip... built it myself, actually...

Purchased Orange Box, and have apparently been playing Team Fortress 2 for >34 hours over the past two weeks... which has got to be unhealthy... These online games give me such a rush...

I have got to find something that actually takes advantage of my box... all I can find are single-player FPSs, which I don't really like.

Also partially playing SF4 (waiting for a fighting stick to arrive) and Age of Empires III.

Now I'm addicted to Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook. Good thing it's only one minute per game, or else I would never be off that app... And who would've thought that your high score is reset every week (but at least they keep record of how many times you reached a certain milestone in points). <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

Mine's Krabonq (but my Steam ID is Ap200 I think, I'm not sure... but I'm the guy with RE5 and Civ 4 as his most recent two games), I'll add you.

Its amazing what polar opposite audiences the PC gaming crowd is from other gamers. You bitch about all these things that I couldn't care less about if you gave me money. PC gamers have such different priorities and reasons for gaming, its just something I'll never understand. You always want the thing that's going to make it so you can play every game you buy for about 2000+ hours over the course of the time you have it, whereas I like to have variety in my gameplay where each experience with a game has a limited number of things to be explored, therefore having closure when one of them is completed and fully explored. Online gaming is interesting to an extent, but every online game ever has gotten really old after a day or two of playing it online. There is a huge irreconcilable difference. Maybe it comes from different life circumstance wanting more bang for your buck instead of stretching out every little penny you have into countless hours of repetitiveness. At this point in life, I don't have a lot of time to spend on gaming, so when I play, I want rewarding gameplay and variety with what I do. I'm not faulting PC gamers for what they do, but their interests are the exact opposite of what I play games for and its shocking. That makeup cover of MW2 is just really, really bitchy for a number of reasons and gives a glimpse into what people are thinking. And $59.95 for a game? I've been paying that for 4 years and couldn't be happier.

I played CoD 4 over 250 hours in the past 2 years since it's release.

That's about 1 hour ever 3 days at an average, so I don't see the "I don't have a lot of time to spend on gaming" argumentation working here.

There are only two other games that came this close with one most surpassing it (Civilization 4, I guess I have 500 hours put into that one) and the other one clocking in at around 280h (BF2, http://www.spieler-daten.de/bf2_stats/Ap2003 + 50h on other account and with bots).

I won't start a discussion about the other stuff with you, as I probably would start to throw bad words at you and as history (mainly ~2 sites ago in this thread) has proven you don't share my point of view and... well, I'll just stop here, as long as it's still friendly.

On the bright side; Dice seems to take the opportunity and release a usefull Multiplayer-Game with Bad Company 2.

It always amuses me when console people say they don't have trouble with games. Recently when Borderlands fucked up the PC release, a lot of console people mistakenly thought they had gotten the better deal. No, the issues that are present, PC users at least have somewhat of an opportunity to fix. And trust me, this game needs it. And I'm not even playing it multiplayer (since online multiplayer is a horrible invention that must die), what I've heard of the matchmaking issues had me shaking my head in disbelief.

Anyway I started playing Dragon Age and wow, coming from Brütal Legend it's a bit of a rude awakening to see how wooden the writing/acting is, how obvious the exposition, how humorless and dry it all is, and how much I don't give a shit. I'm sure Bioware used to be better at this kind of thing, but this engine doesn't really do them any favors either. All the characters have really awkward facial expressions, making them very hard to take remotely seriously. I also hate that the main character doesn't talk--makes connecting to him almost impossible.

I thought I'd be into this game's story and setting, but it's all just unbearably amateurish. Oh well, maybe if I get into it more I'll enjoy the gameplay.

How was Borderlands a fucked up release? I don't play multiplayer either, but I've still been having a good ol' time. The only few flaws I've seen are the lack of an AA option, the menu pointer problems (which aren't that big of an issue and can be fixed), and the supposedly bad ending (but I guess that's for every console.

Nah the game itself is great, it's just that there's no good settings for vertical/horizontal movement, no v-sync, bad FOV, no way to have proper vehicle control... that kind of thing. You can fix all those things though, with various very simple hacks. If I had gotten the console version, those little things would add up to a pretty flawed experience.

These issues you're talking about don't really exist in the console version, so your last statement seems pretty invalid to me. Versions are not always the same between platforms and are often optimized for certain ones and I think borderlands is one of these cases where they put a little more effort into the 360 version since everyone says it's so much easier to develop for, which would make sense since it has standardized hardware. I also read an interview with the Gearbox and they did mention they were putting some extra work into the 360 version.

Anyhow, I finished Bayonetta for the first time last night and it is one of the most fulfilling action games in years. There are so many extras and so many hilarious references to other Sega, Capcom, and DMC games it just makes me laugh out loud at the cleverness and absurdity. Starting on Hard tonight!

As far as I know Borderlands PC is just a straight port from the 360 version with next to nothing changed (which is certainly part of the problem--that doesn't quite work, Gearbox idiots). Then again I haven't tried the 360 version so it might work a lot better. there are things like control issues that are PC specific, but then there's stuff like FOV, weapon readouts and vehicle control that they just messed up, and are easily fixed on the PC but you'll just have to live with on 360/PS3 (is it even out on ps3? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )

During development I heard a lot about this, I heard stories that they spent 3 or so months in development just adding stuff off a list of things that they thought would be awesome, references to old Sega games, jokes etc. I really can't wait for that game, haha.

The vehicle control and FOV really isn't a problem either, though the FOV problem may have a lot to do with the type of display you're using more than it does with what platform you're playing it on. The only issue with the controls on 360 is how hard it is to target a specific item to pick up there are a lot of items in a pile or something, but I think that's an issue no matter what platform, but just slightly intensified without a mouse.

And yeah, that sounds about right with Bayonetta. It won't disappoint.

Parasite Eve: I got back into this AMAZING CLASSIC for a little bit last night and I really hit the game hard today. I'm 4-5 hours in and I'm at Day 5 (and an intro monologue mentioned 9 days). When do I get to disc two? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... pyeyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Silent Bomber: No, not a farting game <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Another personal classic PS game. It's a platformer and brawler and shooter and puzzle all in one. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Wow, Bayonetta got a 40/40 in Famitsu, for the 360 version only PS3 version got less. I'm so glad the game is getting the attention it deserves, but I know American reviewers won't be as ecstatic about it, but most of them are such worthless douchebags that it doesn't matter to me, but unfortunately reviews are used to make purchase decsions for a lot of people.

Also, I played that Dragon Age game the other day, it was ridiculously boring, but those games generally aren't my kind of game anyway, but the acting is terrible, the graphics are really bland and shitty looking, targeting system is bad, etc.

Yeah and objectively speaking the PS3 version is not as good, thanks to Sega screwing the conversion up a bit, though the only way you'd know is if you played both (which is probably why 2 reviewers still gave it a perfect score--they couldn't compare it to the 360 version). <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> And yeah I feel the same way about DA, I actually brought it back (fortunately it was within the period that I could still get a full refund on it).

Anyone tried Torchlight?
