I'm pretty sure BoA is less popular than Morning Musume nowadays, looking at her sales and TV appearances. Also, the poll had no pre-selected options, AFAIK.



But really, there's no use trying to break it down to a science. It probably was rushed by H!P fans as much as the guys side was by JE fans. Or chalk it up to the idol image, really. It's not like this was a question on the Japanese census or anything.
