On another one of my "lucky timing" trips to Book Off last night, I found the Minimoni movie, "Minimoni ja Movie Okashi na Daibouken!" (aka Minimoni the Movie: The Great Sweets Adventure!), from 2002. Did a quick check of a few scenes and it looks like fun, a mix of live-action and computer-created animation. Yuko Nakazawa voices a character, a "cake-hating queen," and even sings a song. The movie was directed by Shinji Higuchi, who has worked on a lot of anime, including "Neon Genesis Evangelion" (whose main character was named Shinji), and has directed live-action movies including "Nihon Chinbotsu" (Japan Sinks), which I liked very much and which I wrote about on my blog back on March 24, 2011. I will watch the Minimoni movie over the weekend and do a blog entry on it.



The movie is out-of-print on CDJapan, although the soundtrack is still available. Curiously, also available is a DVD with "Making of" footage from the movie. I'm always eager to get more Aibon & Nono material that I haven't seen yet, but I'm balking at paying $46.38 under the current exchange rate for one 42-minute disc of Making-of footage. Has anybody seen this Making of disc and would they recommend it?

Oh, and I also picked up Nacchi's "Koi no Telephone Goal" PV, which also has a mix of live-action and (mostly) animation. Fun video, although MaiMai does a great solo rendition of this song as one of the extras on the Blu-ray of H!P 2011 Winter Concert B.

Haven't seen it in years so I couldn't tell you if I remember a blessed thing. But I coincidentally have the visual book that probably was given away at the premiere or something, not sure because I got it in a bulk buy of visual books.



I'd get it just to see what the 4Kids (Maasa, Risako, Airi and Mai) looked like back then and how they interacted with Minimoni and such. It's always awesome to see old footage of back then and it seems to be harder and harder to come by.

Welcome to Japan, where if you have an ounce of fat on you, you are a fat sumo sized unattractive female.... it's sad but that is the way it is, most mothers who bring their kids to my school are terribly thin, not quite worryingly thin but just walking the line somewhere close.



I love the look on Asami's face when she had finished her bit with no mistakes, how happy and relieved was she?!

^ I love how Momoko, Chisato, Maasa, and Yurina have hardly changed at all, but some girls like Risako look like completely different people. It's crazy how much baby fat they all still had in their faces back then, they were so little!



Re: Weight/skinniness. While idols/models/famous people in general always tend to push the line no matter what the country, you do have to keep in mind that body types vary and ethnicity can be a factor. Some people are naturally very thin and still perfectly healthy, just as some people are naturally curvier or heavier and still healthy. Baby they were boooorn this way! etc.



I want SOME GIRLS! EAT to be a new unit. Can it be lead by 2003 Yossi?

I know I'm just going to sound like a hater but...

I always thought Konno had some form of disordered eating. She was always complaining about her "big" and "fat" face and she was obsessed with food. I guess she's no different than other idols but damn - and they say the camera adds 10 lbs.

[indent] Hello! Project trio Buono! will star together in a movie for the first time. The movie is titled “Gomennasai” and is an adaptation of a popular mobile phone novel. Asato Mari (“Ju-on: Kuroi Shoujo”) is directing.



“Gomennasai” is a horror story set in a high school in the Kanagawa prefecture. The three main characters are Hidaka Yuka (Suzuki Airi), Kurobane Hinako (Natsuyaki Miyabi), and Sonoda Shiori (Tsugunaga Momoko). The story starts when Shiori is unable to beat the talented Hinako in a test, and she begins getting harassed about it. Hinako is later forced to write the script for a play that will be performed at the school festival, but from that point on, people around them begin to mysteriously die one by one.



The three members of Buono! will also apparently appear in secondary roles as themselves, addressing the audience about real-life horror stories.



The movie is scheduled to be released this fall. Buono! will also sing the theme song, which has not been given a title yet.
