Digging the song, thought the PV was a bit boring. I wished they got more artistic touches like the first and final shots. My favorite part of the dance was when Reni and Momoka are at the front doing the "monster" thing and Reni puts her hand in Momoka's face. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm still playing Otome Sensou's single regularly, I'm glad I have new songs to jam. :D

I really love this new song! The video is kind of boring but it's still very good.

I don't think this was posted.. it's so cute!!

Edit: Apperantly it's a Bside to their new single?

I was all for it until I saw the Furbies sticking out of their heads.

Cringing. Hiding.

I will admit, this commercial is close to convincing me to buy a Furby!

UPDATE: The force is strong with this one... I just bought a Furby shirt (because it's hilarious! That's the only reason, promise. )

I just got around to listening to that B-side. Its listenable, but seems to fall in with most of their other songs, where it gets boring fast and I can't really listen to it very often. Saraba is astoundingly good, though, and I could listen to it all day on repeat, and have been for the last few days <3

Just wanted to say I gave them a listen yesterday and I am officially on board. I should have waited until I have a new iPod though...

I think the Furby thing is great, except I hate how stupid the new Furbies look. But when I saw that video and realized they WERE furbies I had to share it with my sister.

I forget the name but so far I like the song where they're dressed up as pirates the best.

Black Weekend

It's the b-side for the new single. There is a tribute to Black Sabbath in the middle and it is awesome.

I thought the furby song was the b-side? Or are both of them? Either way, I can't wait to listen to that, Black Sabbath + idols sounds like possibly the best shit ever

Ahahahahaha, the coughing at the beginning of Black Weekend is also a Sabbath reference, from "Sweet Leaf" and the song starts with the same power chord sound. The middle part is more of a nod to the Sabbath sound in general, not necessarily a direct reference.

I think I'm actually gonna buy this single now. I still like the a-side better than both b-sides, but the b-sides are fun too.

I understand your wanting me to like them and all :p But unlike most idol fans, I don't just get blindly addicted to idols and buy anything they put out, I take every release on a case-by-case basis and weigh it on its own strengths. I do like them right now, though, based on this release and hope they keep going in the right direction, but we'll have to see! Plus, Kanako and Reni are adorable, so at least there's some foundation there, member-wise!

Yeah, funny how much opinions differ on MomoClo. I've listened to their entire discography twice and still, Saraba is the only thing that actually caught me enough to even put it on my mp3 player.

I think I found out a big reason why I dislike so much of MomoClo's discography, and I didn't quite realize it before. The guy who writes and produces a lot of their music is the same guy that writes and produces a lot of AKB's stage songs. He literally makes these songs with no real instruments, he just uses a MIDI keyboard in his apartment to pump out 4 or 5 songs a day for various artists and outlets. The songs sound like shit and are often just spastic ideas of songs fleshed out into full-lenth running times just so he can fulfill his duty to whoever hired him to write the song. Its cheap, quickly-thrown-together music for the sole purpose of making money, and I think it shows. Though I think some of MomoClo's stuff is somewhat better-written than AKB stage songs, the arrangements still generally sound like trash. While he's not the only person who makes music for them, he and other producers who operate a lot like him seem to populate their discography.

There's a really interesting documentary about this guy and how he works, and it focuses a lot on MomoClo as well, with some behind the scenes footage of them included.

I'm not sure who you're hating on. Hyadain? On his official site he's credited with 1 team B song and 2 no3b songs. Those songs were years ago too and don't sound remotely like his "signature" stuff. So no, it's not the same guy who writes a lot of the stage songs and you're getting your wires crossed somewhere. The guy who did Ponytail did Kimi no Ato on their album, the boring shit song of the album. I don't get the instrument criticism either. Like, it's not even valid sort of thing considering the music you've said you liked doing the same thing as Hyadain. When Hyadain makes a song, it's not "churned out" for cash. Like, the level of detail he puts into his works, to call it churned out is insane because it's anything but.

But hey, I have just the video for you.Hyadain and Tsunku, both producing the same idol singing the same song. I think I already know what you're going to say, but Hyadain clearly has an image that he directs to the idols and both songs are equally as good.

I sent my dad "Black Weekend" as he is a huge Ozzy fan. He said "Pretty good", which is a vast improvement of what he usually says when I show him songs.

I don't know too much about the absolute details, and there seems to be some weird divide between the songs he made under "Hyadain" and the ones he did under his real name. I've heard a lot of info about him from different people and seen multiple lists of his work discography and every one seems to have different songs on it and to be missing some information compared to the other ones. The main point is that most producers who work like him, no matter how much detail they put into it, a trained ear knows if the instruments are real or not, and fake-sounding instruments that are trying to be passed off as real or substitutes for real ones is one of my pet peeves in music production, unless the intent is to obviously be different. It doesn't help that the compositions are usually pretty generic and common, but it leaves a lot less to be interested in by the time the song is done being produced.

If you've never produced/written music, I don't think you can quite comprehend how much work is involved in the process, and the fact that he makes 4-5 songs a day sometimes, including the writing and the production/recording really raises some questions as to how much work is actually put into them, aside from just being able to hear it for yourself. I understand he has a lot of experience and skill at making passable songs that can be marketed, and can do so more quickly than most people, but that doesn't make good music to me, and I can personally feel this lack of work in his music.

Its mostly just a personal preference to me, so I don't expect anyone else to think how I do, but its interesting to me to explore these kinds of things and talk about my findings, if nothing else, just for my own personal research. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. If you enjoy MomoClo and his other work, more power to you, I just don't, and I like to explore why I do or don't like certain music, it helps to hone my listening skills and help me more effectively find music I actually do enjoy.

I downloaded that video with Tsunku and haven't got to watch it yet. Most of Tsunku's own productions are a train-wreck nowadays though, so I don't think I'll have a whole lot of preference to either song just going by their recent quality.

I finally watched that video of Tsunku and Hyadain on that show. I actually love how Tsunku did his production on there, he's so much more old-school, organic, and technical with how he does his stuff. Watching him produce reminded me a lot of how I usually produce my own works, with things coming down to milliseconds of timing to get it to sound just right, not just auto-grid timing like Hyadain does. Tsunku is also a master of vocal direction and the performance he got out of that girl was WAY better than what the other guy got. I wish this show was like..5 hours longer, I could watch Tsunku work all day long. ASAYAN comeback, plz.

Hyadain's style, as showcased in this video, is very much more streamlined, standardized, and automatic than Tsunku's. The production tools he uses do most of the job for him, where Tsunku prefers to do things much more analog, if you will. Hyadain's style takes most of the character out of the songs. Really interesting video, like I said, I just wish there was a lot more.

I just saw Marty post about that on his blog/Twitter yesterday. Hopefully some will actually turn out well. Not really liking the one on the video. Some of the instrumental parts are pretty great, but the vocals are really annoying. And I love metal, and death metal especially, but these vocals are just grating in the worst way.
