No, I do not want to see Konno sing ever.

Kei and Risa? Yes please!</blockquote>

Didn't wanna be the first to say it, but yep!

Risa is so gorgeous, it's ridiculous.

I know Konno is not the best singer but she has always been one of my favorites (well not always, she is like the only member ever to go from the very bottom of my list up to a top three spot) so this makes me so happyyyy <3<3<3

Well that was pretty much what I expected. Kei and Risa both sounded great.

I wonder if Risa could have been a solo artist in a a different era, like 35+ years ago? She turned into a very good singer -- not great, but better than a lot of idols, and there are brief moments of greatness. I find her singing to be more pleasant to listen than most other ex-Musumes. And she's gorgeous. Unfortunately, she was born into an era where most idols are considered washed up by the time they reach legal drinking age.

Wasn't that always the case though? I thought even Matsuda Seiko was considered washed up by the time she got to that magical marriageable age in japan.

I could be wrong, but I just figure japan likes its entertainment women married and retired by 25, and anyone older than that is just on the watch to be the next one to marry and retire.

Of course, there are plenty of older, even married women who still perform (I think the model who married Jin Akanishi still performs), but I just imagine they're the exception, not the rule.

Ai-chan had an <a class="bbc_url" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoPsQP0 ... terview</a> for maidigitv :) It's about an upcoming stage play and her husband is also mentioned at some point :) I couldn't tell you if there's more to the interview than that sorry.

My sense was that it was later than it is now, at least into the mid-20s, whereas now idols are often retired before they even reach 20. I admit I don't really know for sure, though.

I just think Risa, with her particular looks and her voice, would have been well suited to 1960s–1970s pop music.

I wonder if Kono Inori is going to be a cover of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's song. The fact that there's a guy there really makes me wonder.

Pour Lui from the recently disbanded but forever awesome group BiS is under UFP. She's in the Just Pro section where Koharu, Risa, Miki and Mano are.

It looks like she's been under their management for awhile, although BiS didn't disband until July.

Ballsy move singing classical arrangements where it's hard to hide your imperfections as a singer. Still, nice to see some OGs making records. I really wish Miki Fujimoto would record again.

I Dreamed a Dream @ 5:00 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs7Sh6w8Brk

You can hear other songs sprinkled throughout, but the audio is clear at that part.

Don't know if I would call it as impressive as Kahala Tomomi's transformation, but it's definitely not what I was expecting.

She sounds nice but I can't help spotting a lot of terrible technique in the video LOL lack of tall syllables, tight neck and jaw, etc.  I do think she has a nice tone for classical music, though.

I know, but she has always been kind of bad for technique.  Which is why I think this whole idea is crazy....

Abe is barely passable as a pop singer, so I don't know why anyone thought she would excel at classical. She sounds pretty rough, as should be expected. This will be as bad as that Jazz album that Kago released a few years ago.

BTW, when did she sign with Nippon Columbia? Has she left Up-Front?

No, she's still with UpFront. I guess they just worked some deal to get her on a different label like they did with Kikka.

Psh... whatever... I was REALLY impressed by Natsumi's classical singing... I'm not expecting some woman who's been trained for years to sing like this with imperfections, bad techniques and all, so to hear her as she was in the video, she sounded really good.  Good for her to try something like this!!!

Takahashi is releasing a 2nd style book, although given her recent track record, I'm not sure sure I want her advice. Release is 9/13.
