It already is released unsubbed, so there'd be no point in a western company re-releasing it unsubbed. O_o I hope it's available to buy online. Takamina looks so inspiring even in the few minutes you see there.

Well, it'd be Region 1 instead of 2.

JKT48 is just being overseen by Aki-P, he won't be writing the songs or anything. Therefore, I don't care.

I wonder how it's gonna work when a lot of Indonesians are Muslim. How is it possible to be a -48 without bikini shots?

So, this Flying Get thing? Yeah, it kind of sold a million copies. On it's first day. If I may quote our sisters a Bitches Aloud:

Ya no quiero seguir viviendo en este planeta.

Really!?! Outside of that Aimi song, everything about this single was basically a mess. You even had some of their hardcore fans completely hating it. I guess at this point, they can crap into a cd case and it will fly off the shelves.

Flying Get sold SO much.

When I went to Tower Records yesterday to get it, all of Type B was sold out, and it was only 4pm.

I made due with A.

And it's not like I live in a giant city or anything either. Maybe if it was a giant city though they might have had more copies though.

AKB is now historic.

After selling over 1 million copies on the first day, AKB48’s latest single “Flying Get” has officially topped the weekly sales charts. According to Oricon, the single sold approximately 1,354,000 copies in its first week, breaking the all-time record that they previously set with “Everyday, Kachusha” in May (1,334,000).

They are now the first artist in the 44-year history of Oricon’s single charts to release two consecutive singles that sold 1 million copies in the first week.

Since their 14th single “RIVER” in 2009, AKB48 has a streak of 9 consecutive number-ones. Among female groups, this ties them with Pink Lady for the record. It also ties them with Pink Lady for the record of consecutive million-selling singles (three).

AKB48 now has the two best-selling singles (in first week sales) in Oricon history.

 1. AKB48Flying Get – 1.354 million
 2. AKB48Everyday, Kachusha – 1.334 million
 3. Mr.ChildrenNamonaki Uta – 1.208 million
 4. Utada HikaruAddicted To You – 1.068 million
 5. Hayami Kentaro, Shigemori Ayumi, Himawari Kids & Dango GasshoudanDango 3 Kyoudai - 1.026 million

Also, can anyone explain what's up with the crazy cover for the type-A edition? Looks like a 70s/80s movie poster.

AKB48 offers chance to appear on cover of FLASH magazine with favorite member

Posted on September 2, 2011 by tokyograph

On September 20th, idol group AKB48 is holding its 2nd Senbatsu Janken tournament to decide the participants for the group’s 24th single, to be released this December. Like last year, the group will release an official guidebook, but this year’s book comes with a chance of a lifetime. Fans who predict the top 8 winners of the tournament, in order, will be able to appear on the cover of weekly magazine FLASH along with their favorite member.

The guidebook, which goes on sale on September 5th for a retail price of 1,000 yen, comes with an application sheet for fans to submit their predictions.

71 members are expected to participate in this year’s tournament, though replacements have not yet been announced for NMB48’s Shimada Rena and AKB48’s Oba Mina. With that many competitors and a huge amount of luck involved, the probability of correctly predicting the order of the top 8 is incredibly low (worse than 1 in 1 trillion). However, should it happen, the prize of appearing on a magazine cover with an idol group member would be unprecedented.

Fans who correctly predict the top 3 in order (a much better chance) will receive a special present. Out of those, 10 people will be chosen through lottery to receive invitations to an AKB48 concert after-party. Also, those who correctly predict the top 3 (not necessarily in order) will get to watch an AKB48 concert from VIP seats.

ION, how the hell am I post all y'all's AKBNMBJFKABC480000 news?

That's some pretty cool stuff you could win, even if some it has very low chances.

I'd participate if I was in Japan.

Ugh, it just shows you how much wild fandom can do for record sales. Not to mention having multiple versions of a single for wotas to buy. I'm happy for their success and all, but I really don't like Flying Get, the song, and I've listened to it many times, I think its one of their worst songs, it just annoys me. But both B-sides of the Type B version are really good. I'm thinking this may be the LOVE Machine of their career, where everyone is super hyped-up about them and buys the hell out of a single, and everything after this may be downhill, as far as sales and such. This whole thing just seems really weird that an idol group which has a history of being frowned upon in the last decade or so in Japan is all of a sudden breaking national sales records, unless these wota have just come up with one hell of a sneaky plan to fix those numbers. Idol groups always have their niche following, as we all know, but it seems there has to be someone else besides wota buying this to make THAT big of an impact on these numbers. And for such a bad song :p

I used to dislike Flying Get, but then I listened to it a bunch and it became fun to listen to! The way that they marketed this single was no different than their other once, they have 2 types of limited, 2 types for regular (I believe), and the theater version. Why wouldn't this song sell a lot, the senbatsu was chosen by their fans. All the Acchan fans/Yukirin/Yuko fans probably gobbled it up! Yukirin fans are really really scary too.

Aisu no Kuchizuke is one of the best B (C?) sides ever I think too.

Yeah there was a handshake ticket in my limited edition, but almost every single I bought has one so that's no different. I think this single is just really good :).

My thoughts exactly. After a streak of very good to excellent singles and PVs, this is such let down. It was really disappointing, especially after catching some wind of the surrounding hype. It was even more disappointing and disheartening to see the sales numbers afterwards, because there were so many songs in the recent past that deserved it so much more, even if we only consider AKB's songs.

I'm am somewhat curious to see what happens with the next single. If all is right with the world, it should under-perform in sales as a backlash from this turd of a song. But if the hype and record-breaking sales continues then it will be the ultimate proof (yet another) that sales success means jack shit artistically, thus bringing my overall disappointment in the world and human kind yet another notch higher.

Kind of late to the discussion but, actually, Flying Get is one of the only singles that sticks in my head. I don't necessarily like it and it isn't as fun as Heavy Rotation, but it sure is catchy.

AKB is like a runaway success at this point with every single over-exceeding expectations. Is the bubble going to pop? I can't see them just fading away -- I think the popularity will slowly ebb as it did for other super groups (Hamasaki, etc). But, they don't have any real competition at this point -- no Korean girl idol group will ever supplant a domestic one and MM is old-hat to the public.

Introducing JKT48!

Image

AKB48 to launch Indonesian sister group JKT48

Posted on September 10, 2011 by tokyograph

Image from: Oricon

AKB48 has officially announced the creation of JKT48, a new sister group that will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Although plans for a Taiwan-based group were previously revealed, it appears that JKT48 will likely be AKB48′s first overseas sister group to officially launch.

The news of JKT48 was announced at an AKB48 event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on Sunday. The new group will keep the same “idols you can meet” concept, and Akimoto Yasushi will still be the group’s overall producer.

Open auditions for JKT48′s first generation have also been announced, open to girls between the ages of 13 and 18. Applications will be accepted until September 16. The interview round will take place in late September, and the final dancing/singing audition round will be held on October 8-9. The passing members will be announced on the final day.

JKT48 is aiming to debut around the end of 2011. An official website has already launched, along with a Twitter account and Facebook page.

I don't understand their thinking by adding another team to AKB48 when the other groups are so small. And yet they mix them up anyway and you have SKE and NMB mingling with the AKB in their singles. That's one thing I really dislike about the groups.

Oh and I'm going to officially confirm to the masses that I AM a Miichan fan. Though it's still tentative and I may drop this whole fandom thing after a week, we'll see.

I just did a mass 48 download, getting Flying Get, SKE's newest single, Takahashi's Clone's Flower single and Nami Tsuji's love child's newest single. I dislike the solo singles very much, and I haven't listened to the SKE or AKB singles yet.

Having gone to the Generasia wiki and looked at Namie Tsuji Love child's past pictures. I can't believe it's the same person. I think they pasted a new tooth ontop of her old tooth. It got bigger! D:

Because the thread kept being bogged down with crap random drivel I took the pain of going through the last few pages and filtering it out. Please keep senseless spam and fangirl spazzing where it belongs, i.e. other fora or PMs. And don't get smart with me about what's pertinent to this thread, unless you're trying your chances on earning a different member class banner. Thanks.

Oku stated that she always had a shyness problem! She looked so much happier before her knee injury though, in my opinon.

OKAY! So AKB48's 23rd single "Kaze ga Fuiteiru" is going to be released soon...that means...PV PREVIEW TIME!

It's about tsunami's and earthquake awareness or something, I don't know if I like it yet. Too much Yukirin in the front for my liking! (Boohiss.)
