Who are you asking ?
'Any of you' - don't be stupid.

Apparently it's a WWII combat flight simulator coming out for the handhelds (PSP, DS) as well as 360, PS3.

Is it any good?
I know IL 2 Sturmovik, it was released for the PC already in 2001...

It's just like any other flight simulator, you love that genre or you don't.

Talking about frustration in games, I just started Persona 4 yesterday and I'm currently at the 4th boss fight (Yukiko's Shadow) and already died 4 times.

I only got the fucker ONE TIME to 50% HP, then it gave me a death blow that did more damage than my main char has HP.

Not really like any other flight simulator other flight simulators dont have much on the rudder pedals or the joystick. My dad has the expansion with a TON of mods of planes not added in (the creator sent it to some programmer since he was to lazy to put it in himself which figures). The expansion is IL2-Sturmovik Forgotten Battles.

so what's persona 4 like?

Just finished The World Ends With You. I started the game probably last Wednesday. The game said I had a 14 hour playtime, but I left it on all day because I'll be damned to start the 2 hour endgame over again while I'm on the last boss and I have to go to classes. The ending was an okay twist, but I definitely did not find out everything I needed to. ALSO FIVE-HEADED DRAGON WAT

You can replay all the days after you beat the game with added objectives to get pages from a journal that explain eeeeeeeeverything, probably more than you would ever need to know. Gets kinda monotonous, though. I eventually just went online and read the transcripts.

If you think that one is bad, wait till the next fight. I died about 5-6 times.

And that isn't even the hardest fight in the game.

I saw that. It's a nice way to add a lot of replayability, especially since the game's so short. But then I replayed Shiki-2 and it didn't give me the star for beating the boss (the bat) on hard. Do I have to get the yukata ramen star first? Do you have to ge them in order?

What difficulty are you guys on? I played on easy and stopped shortly into the 8-bit type dungeon. Christmas and TROOPERS and DS stole my attention, much like what happened to me for both P3 and P3:F.

I'm not certain, It's been awhile since I've played, but the way I remember it is that they have a list of requirements for each day, then when you complete them all, you get the reward. So if you didn't do one of them, then you don't get it. But that might not be what you're saying, I just don't remember very well. Doing them in order might be required. I know you can do the days in any order you like, not sure about the objectives within.

Playing on normal (as I did P3), currently in the final area. I'm kinda taking my time cause I don't want the game to end. Hopefully nothing will steal my attention!

I love the fact that the thread and subtitle BOTH say "what's playing you"

DIGI DRIVE. I've had it for a long time but never really stuck with it ( it was in an order with some other stuff, so it got pushed aside)

Plus I didn't really know how to play. It's a very trial and error experience, but then once you get it, it's simple and so addictive.

I was reminded of REZ in the sense that when I advanced through, they added new layers of music (of a similar genre as well) Basically it's like a very abstract 4 way street and you direct "traffic" of shapes into one of the 4 sides, if you fill each with stacks of the same shape "car" a computer voice says AUTOBAHN, and then you go into this zone where the cars move quickly. You have to send the correct cars to each, while balancing so each lane gets a car, because an ignored lane will end your bonus and you resume as normal.

After getting a ton of points, it transfers to a meter in some polygon or circle, then you send a cop car into that lane and it redeems those points as a distance. If you send the wrong car down that lane, you lose the earned points in the meter. If you mess up too many times, game over. When you hit certain distances, you are rewarded with new visual skins that basically just change the color palette. They have different categories like world soccer team colors or food inspired color schemes. Also, you get new music choices. You can also choose silence as the BGM which is cool because the cars alone will create the music when you pile them up.

This is for GBA, but Nintendo has already started to turn the bit generation series into Wii ware downloads, I'm sure this will be one soon, it's better than some of the ones they have out now.

Doesn't matter in the end, as you still won't be able to buy SP-recovering items besides those useless cans.
It does matter, since I never bought a single can and in fact I didn't even know there was another SP recovery item other than the stuff you get from those boxes. I must also admit I didn't realize there were no SP items for sale, but I hardly bought anything from that store other than Goho-M's.

Well anyway~ I've been playing a lot of Gunpey on both the PSP and the DS lately. They're like completely different games on each console, and each one is catered to that console's strengths, it's fucking amazing. The PSP game is based on the Lumines engine while the DS game is based on the Meteos engine. Of course, those happen to be my favorite games on each respective console, so I'm very happy about that fact.

The PSP game really works as a game that I pick up every now and then, play for 15 minutes then put on sleep mode again. It's really relaxing while never being boring, just awesome. DS game is a versus mode type game, so it's much more intense, and the touch screen means you can move stuff about way quicker so the game is adjusted for that as well.

The games don't even share the same graphics or aesthetics, with the PSP game being a kind of techno-style game along the lines of Lumines, while the DS game has a twangy country-jazz feel with cartoony technicolor graphics. Really can't praise Q Entertainment enough for going that extra mile. If you like puzzlers at all you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't check this game out, whatever handheld you may have.

I split the Persona 4 stuff into another thread, so if you guys would like to consolidate some replies from here to there then go for it.

And congratulations, the whole Persona conversation is the most Greek thing I've read on the board in a long while.

I've been trying to get back into playing the second Pheonix Wright game but i'm finding it pretty dull. I think I need something a bit faster paced.

I preferred the first Phoneix Wright, never did finish the last case on the second one. But I want to get through it so I can start on the third, which I heard was pretty good. I also have a copy of Apollo Justice that I am dying to try but I won't let myself until I finish...

Currently I am playing Dragon Quest V on my DS. <3 <3 <3

Bought Lunar Genesis (DS) for cheap so I started playing that, liking it so far. Nothing revolutionary as RPG's go but solid enough.

I beat the first two (and the fourth) Phoenix Wright games a little awhile ago. I started with the fourth (was a gift), then played the first two. I didn't like the first as much as the rest, but maybe that's because I started with the fourth and was used to more complex cases. Overall though, I enjoyed all three and am currently playing through the third, though I haven't had a chance to play it in awhile.
I love how DS is the new black with seemingly everyone who has interest in Japanese culture, yet there has not been one single game that has interested me for it in over 2 years (Rhythm Tengoku Gold excepted) and in those two years I've been interested in and played at least 80 to 100 games for Xbox 360. Nintendo really has a hold on the world of capitalism with their novelty gaming consoles. I play so many games that most of the time its not even worth listing, beside the fact that most of what I post would never get responses or conversation since they're not about DS or Wii games! You could always click on the 360 thing in my sig and find out, if you really care to know, too.
Hey now, let's not bash on the DS like that. After the 360, it's easily the best gaming system on the market. It's far from being a novelty system, plus it doesn't lack in must-own exclusive titles like the Wii does. If anything, the DS has far too many good games to count. Every time I stop in a game or electronics store, I notice countless dozens of new and cool-looking DS games that I'd never even heard of before. Upon researching them, or trying them out on a friend's system, I realize that many of them are fantastic. Most of the truly original and quirky games nowadays come out for DS. And most ALL of the new 2D ones go on there, too. Much like me, I doubt you've ever heard of (or seen) most of these games before. So saying "there's nothing that interests you" is not quite fair. And remember, the DS is not just popular because the system is trendy. It's also because most of our friends use R4 carts, and get their games for free. So with that much stuff to choose from, like the entirety of both America and Japan's gaming libraries, they're bound to find countless new games to play and enjoy.

I do agree, however, that this thread has a severe lack of 360 convo recently. And since that's the only current-generation console I own, there's little else for me to talk about. Another good point you made: if someone wants to check out which 360 games you've been playing, or your progress in those games, all they hafta do is click on your gamercard. All the data is there, and easy/fun to read or compare. One of the many reasons that 360 is amazing, and brings a much-needed social aspect to single-player gaming. I haven't posted in this thread since numerous months ago, and I was originally planning to update on what I'd been playing since then. But I dunno if anyone even cares, like you said, haha. And the few that do, I'd prolly talk to them externally about it... if anything.

I've seen and played a number of games for it over the last while, but even if I could potentially like some of them, I'd never get the motivation to stop playing my excellent 360 games long enough to play things on a handheld system. I can't remember any period longer than about a day in the last year and a half where I actually thought to myself "man, I'm bored with my 360, I need some new games."

Conversely, I haven't even turned on my PSP in months, and it was because of not enough time away from 360 or my jobs, but now with my new job I have about 60% less free time to fuck around with games, so I really have to pick and choose what I do with gaming over the next few months.

Speaking of the PSP, I've been rocking DJ Max Portable Black Square and DJ Max Portable Fever. Black Square is a companion to Clazziquai Edition, though Black Square itself doesn't have any Clazziquai songs. It does have a bunch of other new songs, and it's also harder than the other games, which I normally don't enjoy but was done well in this game. Fever, on the other hand, is the US release which is a mix of Portable 1 and 2 on the Portable 2 skin with the Black Square gameplay engine. That means that I've played these songs already (there's one new song), but I don't mind since I haven't done it in a while and it's a nice revisit. I also didn't play Portable 1 much even though I have it (the gameplay + graphics were a bit crude, being the first game), so those songs feel sorta new to me. If anyone is into music game you should really have a PSP, since DJ Max Fever + Clazziquai + Black Square = portable music game bliss. Plus Rock Band Portable was announced for later this year.

I unexpectedly got Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for my birthday. I had already ordered Star Ocean: The Last Hope, which should arrive on Monday. Furthermore, I am at varying levels of completion in Chrono Trigger (about 2/3), Final Fantasy Tactics (very beginning) and Street Fighter IV (‽) . Feeling guilty for spending too little time playing video games is an odd thing...

I never said that you should hafta take time away from 360, or that your Xbox will ever fail to fulfill 100% of your gaming needs. I know this all too well. Even though I've been completely unemployed since leaving the seasonal gig at Circuit City (more than two months ago), I still don't have nearly enough time to play my 360 as it is. So in that, even if I could afford games for other systems, I'd still never have time to play any of them. I'm fine with just my 360, and I couldn't ask for more in my gaming life. I'm definitely not dying for new DS or PSP games, myself. I'm just saying that both systems have oodles of good stuff out, for those people that DO have the time/motivation to play their portables. If we're gonna bash on a game system for a severe lack of quality exclusive titles, and be doing so fairly, that's what PS3 is for.

I know your pain. It relates to what I'd said above. There's really never enough time to play all the awesome games out there. And even in my case, this holds true. I get new games less-often than anyone we know, since I have no spending money whatsoever. I get new Live Arcade stuff when people give me point cards as gifts. I only get one new retail (disc) game every two months or so (and always thanks to presents, from either family or friends). You'd think I'd be blazing through this stuff, and always be craving more games. Not the case at all. I still barely have enough time to devote properly to the games I do play. And I feel bad, because they deserve more attention than I can manage to give them sometimes.

I started Star Ocean: The Last Hope today. I'm not really far enough to know if it's good or bad yet, but I can say with certainty that the battle system is spleen-blindingly awesome.

Got my Resident Evil 5 copy today, and it's pretty fun. My and my friend are just about to start Chapter 4. The controls were a little weird for me at first, but now I don't mind it. The only thing I don't like is that I can't move and shoot at the same time, but it's whatever.

Why the hell has this become the ABSOLUTE NUMBER ONE complaint against this game, when Resident Evil controls have been that way since 1995 GUYS. That's part of the gameplay element that makes it suspenseful and exciting, is that you have limited ability of movement while shooting, but the accuracy of your shooting matters to the utmost, since enemies react differently and it adds a whole new element of strategy based on where you shoot them on their body. Seriously. Everyone that I've heard complain about the game says that exact same thing. Did that many people really not play RE4, even with as popular as it was?

Anyway, the game is fantastic, especially with a co-op partner, and the suspense, excitement, and sometimes terror is way up there in the series. I'm about half way through, but I'm going to be playing this a hell of a lot to unlock everything.

I also picked up X-blades, which the American media is just tearing to shreds (who gives a shit about them anyway..) but its actually a pretty good game. They definitely should have lowered the price point, but since I got it for pretty cheap, the game is well worth playing.

Phantasy Star Portable for the PSP. I couldn't help myself. I loved PSO for the original Xbox, and I haven't played anything Phantasy Star related in a while now. PLus, I got a bonus on my check, so I thought what the hell. I've only just got on the planet Parum, but I like it so far. Learning everything is a little confusing though.

Sonic Rush - classic, nostalgic Sonic gameplay. Pretty good.

Ontamarama - Hmm... An OK music game, but kinda hard to keep up with.

PictoImage - Charades! Not terrible if you don't hate Pictionary. You get to see pre-recorded drawings from people of all ages and you can play multiplayer (single card I think).

Air Traffic Chaos - Air traffic controlling is SO HARD. It starts off fun, but there's soo much going on at once.

TIME HOLLOW - You're a normal kid living with your parents. Oh, wait. No. You're not. You live with your uncle. Maybe. Who knows? Certainly not you. IS THAT A HOLE?! IMMA POKE IT WITH THIS PEN!

theresia - Silent Hill meets Net.Hack meets whoever designed the levels for Touch of the Dead. Genuinely scary and completely hard.

Wordmaster - This plays like a word game I would have to pay 7$ to play on my computer. It's basically one of those number-code-cracking games, but with seven letter words.

Retro Game Challenge - Go into a popular game designer's past and play made-up videogames to make him think he has a friend. Nostalgic and genuinely challenging. I'm still stuck on the second game...

Peggle Dual Shot - Why do I keep playing Peggle? And why to I have to beat the regular Peggle adventure to get the the After Dark adventure?! Haven't I beaten Peggle enough?! (The answer is yes.) The minor gameplay tweaks are kinda nice.

GTA: Chinatown Wars - Exactly what GTA should be on DS. Assisted driving to make up for the lack of joystick, re-designed wanted meter reducing system, drug mini-game, multiple new touch-based interactives, and a decent story make this a great game.

Rhythem Heaven - Ha... I don't want to hate RH, but those goddamn English tracks are so unnecessary...

I'm playing that too. The storyline sucks, but the gameplay is fun when I play with other people.

Whoo, I thought I was the only person in the world that bought that game. I got stuck somewhere and I stopped playing though. D:

I'm also playing Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure. Awesome game. The top is pure platformer Mario with Castlevania fighting bits mixed in and the bottom is a fun puzzle game. The OO!HAHA!EW!UGH!WAH! talking bits are a bit annoying, but after awhile I found myself mimicking them for the sake of my sanity. And it's fun. I know you bitches sang the "SEEEGGGAAAA" theme when the system booted back in the day, don't lie!
