Kamei Eri gets a voice acting job!

Kamei Eri will be making her voice acting debut in a new anime called JewelPet starting on April 5th on TV Tokyo. The anime will be taking over the time-slot that Reina's anime Onegai My Melody Kirara once held. No word yet on how long the anime will be. I'm not sure what role Eri has, but I'm going to safely bet on one of the human girl characters. This has the potential to be a long running series, only time will tell.

Sanrio developed both My Melody and Jewelpet, although it is collaborating with Sega Toys for Jewelpet. Jewelpet is a stuffed animal linked to the online Web-Gurumi site via a secret password. Sega Toys introduced the toys at its booth at last year's Toy Forum. The 33 characters are named after jewels, such as the Japanese rabbit Kōraku ("Ruby"), the Cavalier King Charles spaniel Sapphire ("Sapphy"), and the Persian cat Garnet ("Net"). In the storyline, these pets belonged to magicians in "Jewelland" and can use magic themselves, thanks to their jewel eyes. They study every day to learn how to use magic.

Doubtful; The last Sanrio show to take that timeslot with Reina as a seiyuu bore no singles, albums, nothing. This probably isn't really a KiraRevo replacement in UFA's eyes, considering this focuses on the cuteness of the pets (as expected of Sanrio) while Koharu's was a show about a pop idol. They're probably just trying to keep some girls in the voice acting market.
