In the final stage of the Berryz Kobo spring 2009 concert, the girls come out in western-style costumes from other eras and I'm hard put to describe them. I don't have pictures to show, so I'm asking if anyone who's seen the concert knows what style, if any, these costumes represent. They're pre-Victorian, more from the Jane Austen era. Saki Shimizu looks for all the world like one of the Bennett sisters from "Pride and Prejudice." Maasa and Chinami are both dressed in male costumes, like something out of "Rose of Versailles," but only vaguely. The other girls' dresses could be more from 19th century small-town America than early 19th century England. Or from someplace else.
It only vaguely looks like Gothic Lolita, but not enough for it to actually be Gothic Lolita. But I could be wrong. I'm no expert on these things.
Thanks.

Re: Question about Berryz Kobo spring concert
The outfits themselves are just the theme of their spring concert. All their concert goods went with the whole Japanese interpretation of a European french vibe. I found them to be more french inspired then English but that may just be me. The concert outfits were simply a take off of that.
A lot of H!P concerts tend to work the concert themed outfits some way into a concert outfit, but not all of them do.
But really, there is no method to the H!P concert outfit madness. I think they just put up a bunch of pictures on a board and throw darts at it to put outfits together.
P.S. I moved this to the 101 topic thread. ~ <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... epatch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> ~

Re: Question about Berryz Kobo spring concert
Japanese people don't quite appropriate Western historical dress in a historically-accurate way nor do they always differentiate between English, French, American, etc. If you saw the Ribbon no Kishi musical, the queen has got this Marie Antoinette beehive hair with a slinky 1930s dress haha. It is similar to how Westerners don't understand kimonos whatsoever and think anything vaguely resembling a bathrobe equals "geisha."
But PQ said it best:

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't overlooking some new fashion trend with a catchy name. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
