What are you listening to right now ?

Post by Ap2000 »

I have no clue if we have/had this kind of topic already, but nobody in mIRC or Skype was opposing it. (in fact, Joel was saying DOITFAGGOT all the time)

And since the search results for "listening" didn't show any relevant thread...

Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend (It's a whole album and I love it)

Here's Walcott, the best and most wonderful song from the album imho

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abNc1gLig3s&fmt=18

Feel free to delete/merge in case this thread has been done before. (and I'm pretty sure, I just couldn't find it)

Now:

deadmau5 - Strobe (LOVELOVELOVE)

Lady Gaga - Telephone (pretty much all of the remixes), same for Bad Romance

Christian Cheval - Drop It...! (Rap On It and Jump On It Mixes) (Sippin goose. Getting loose. My hands. Her caboose. 8o )

Me too, since nobody wrote anything. lol

Anyway, besides Vampire Weekend's Album I'm also listening to the Mushishi OST whenever I play Stranded II (or any Stalker game), that's just the absolutely perfect music for that games that give you that "lonely" feeling.

Other than that, I'm still addicted to "Oh" and have the Justice album Cross mix inbetween my current playlist.

Tanz Baby! - Nur Du

These I just found yesterday:

Editors - Papillon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq4tyDRhU_4

Tricky meets South Rakkas Crew - Numb

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0wkV5YAVak

and sooo many more, I currently have about ~40 songs in my playlist.

Mmm. Deadmau5.

Right now, I keep changing songs on my MP3 player because I can and am looking for a certain song. Don't know what it is, guess I'll find out when I find it.

Ah, found it.

Well, today it's 9th March, so...

Remioromen - 3月9日 (with Quartet version)

That's a song I really really (really) love (for many reasons), and listening to it today makes it sounding even more special

So, every year, 9th march it's a kind of personal anniversary for me...

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach (new album)

It's probably not their best album, but I still like it a lot.

Currently listening to "Myriad Harbor" by The New Pornographers; lately I've been listening to them more than usual, hyping myself up for the amazingness that will be their new album.

I'm going to call this my "listening to this is my guilty pleasure thread" because I like the song, but know it's probably bad for my health.

Muse - Uprising

I first heard it on the radio and was like, why are they playing the Doctor Who theme on the radio? What?

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance

The lyrics kinda get stuck in your head.

T-ara - Bo Peep Bo Peep

I'm behind on the times, forgive me but

hANGRY & ANGRY - Mr. Monkey (mad beat)

DEF. DIVA - Suki Sugite Baka Mitai (I love this song to bits... listen to it all the time!)

High-King - Kioku no Meiro (really catchy)

Timbaland feat. SoShy & Nelly Furtado - Morning After Dark (got to have some western music in there to balance things out).

MUSIC IS LIFE! <3

I've been searching out some of the stuff I listened to back in the early 90s, and I've found that some of it stands up really well today and some of it kinda blows.

I had been looking for Swain's First Bike Ride by Fifteen on and off for a couple of years, and I finally found it, but now I almost wish I hadn't. I was really into this album when it came out, to the point where I think I idealized it in my head after not hearing it for over 15 years, and hearing it now is a huge disappointment. Two-part pop-punk songs shouldn't last more than three minutes -- two-and-a-half is ideal -- and half of these clock in at over four. Jeff Ott's growly vocal delivery, which seemed passionate back then, only compound the problem. That said, It's still more interesting than any contemporary pop-punk

The Blatz/Filth Shit-Split LP isn't nearly as funny now, although to be fair, I should've listened to it while drunk.

Cub was the hottness for a couple of months in the mid-90s, but they just sound like cute, amateur indie pop now, which I guess is what they always sounded like. I just don't get into that anymore.

Another album I idealized due to not hearing in 15 years is Mr. Machinery Operator by fIREHOSE, which is really pretty lackluster, although the single "Blaze" still blazes.

On the positive side:

Manic Pop Thrill by That Petrol Emotion is just as awesome as ever. Political music was so much better back in the day, and I don't think I'm just being Old Guy by saying that. Only Green Day seems to be able to pull it off with any aplomb anymore, and I say that as a guy who disagrees with everything they support. If any of the old dudes here knows of That Petrol Emotion, and has a copy of Babble, hook a geezer up, yo.

Superchunk was awesome in the 90s, and their stuff is still awesome today. I don't think they ever got the credit they deserved for being a really great ROCK band. Their first four albums are fucking sweet.

Another really good pop-punk band from that era is Doughboys, and i was really stoked to find their first three albums recently. It's funny how the debate as to which of their first two albums -- Whatever and Home Again -- is their best. I lean toward Home Again, but it's pretty close. They're both horribly recorded, unfortunately, but they blow everything else they ever did out of the water.

And that brings me to my current retro-obsession: Urge Overkill. Dudes, The Supersonic Storybook and Saturation both totally hold up over the years. For some reason Urge Overkill is seen by a lot of people as kind of a joke, and that's totally undeserved. Saturation is one of the best rock albums of the 1990s, period. "Sister Havana", "Positive Bleeding", "Bottle Of Fur", "Dropout", and "Heaven 90210" are all great, catchy songs. Too bad they followed it up with the utterly forgettable Exit The Dragon.

I heard this song this morning and I can't get it out of my head! The video is pretty badass too! Oh, it's western music in case it gives some of you hives.

Ayumi Nakamura - Angel (with broken wings, not sure if this is part of the actual song title)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH8QT1LXIBw

What a voice !

And some german/austrian stuff:

Dendemann - Stumpf is Trumpf

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1FwlQhFLQQ&fmt=18

Pretty cool lyrics (if you understand them)

Ja, Panik ! - Die Luft ist dünn

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oKfrybTocY

Beautiful song and very fitting lyrics.

Ja, Panik ! - Quizshows

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofLV_ZgA5B0

Charlie Winston - Like a Hobo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nOd5_Bdc8I

Probably the most well-known of these.

And I'm still addicted to SNSD's Oh.

While in the car, I accidentally hit the AM button instead of FM. And the auto station it settled on was a tejano station and this song was playing BAM nostalgia! Of course now I can't get it out of my head.

Fuiste Mala - Kumbia Kings y Intocable

And oh god, this kid is what, 12? Looks exactly like all those little brats from the Junior High back in the day. I can't stop laughing at the video. Oh, the song is nostalgic too, but I'd never seen the video before this. Kumbia Kings - Dulce Nina (na na na) Oh carps, there's a song about Speedy Gonzaleztoo? Gawd, that kid still looks like he's 10 or something. What the hell hahahaha! Okay, okay, don't you guys shit on tejano or norteno because any genre of music that still has the motherfucking ACCORDION is automagically kickass. Look at him, he's even rocking a nike glove! And their silly dance moves hahaha! Oh man, I can't get enough of this. It's so damn cheesy. Perhaps later I'll link some spanish music that's not equivalent to our country music. Until then, laugh at this song because it's really funny.
