Stuff I kept remembering from my childhood:

Re: What are you listening to right now ?
Normally when I surf YouTube I wind up on the freaky weird side of the Internet. It's a curse.
BUT! I found this. Genki Sudo with World Order. Apparently he used to be a mixed martial arts fighter. From what I've found, he only has one album with these guys, but it's pretty great. All of the videos have the same type of choreography. It's pretty amazing. It's upbeat, but I think I could probably sleep to this as long as I didn't have the interesting videos.
This one is my favorite.

Aqua, you should definitely check out their album from last year.
I raved about it, of course.
(updated several links to even more PVs)
Along the same electronic rock lines, I just became obsessed with Hare-Brained Unity. I've known about them, but didn't really get around to finding their stuff.
I really like this song, Infinity. The stupid auto-tune gimmick isn't as jarring in this song. I really hate autotune, but I want to love this band.
According to my BBS notes, I was supposed to check out HBU at least 4 years ago. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /lmfao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lmfao:' /> That was probably before the heavy autotune vocals too. I'm kicking myself now, because it'll be a bitch to track down the old albums with what's happening with upload sites now.

The White Stripes - Icky Thump album. I've been doing an iTunes relisten over the past few months and I'm finally getting near the end. Never doing it again. Interesting to see how much stuff I never listened to in full though.

Re: What are you listening to right now ?
This group does covers of popular english songs in Japanese (some japanese covers too). It's interesting to hear their versions, I don't know if I like them as much/more than the originals, but they make it work really well, so I give mad props for avoiding trainwrecks. It seems their earlier covers keep more english and the rapper only changes the rap parts hm.

Lana Del Ray - Born to Die, quirky and interesting, reminded me of Chris Isaak.

I "finally got around to" listen to the songs I took notes during the Top 40 singles of my favourite radio station (= only radio station that I actually like/is worth listening to) and this song is pure beauty:

It's MAAYA SAKAMOTO WEEK On PQs iPod! (Though I should say Maaya with Yoko Kanno since that's my favorite type of Maaya.)
Here are few of my personal favorites.
Yakusoku ha Iranai (Though I've been listening to the one on Yoko Kanno's Raichikyuu Kinen album which is a shorter version, the original is still one of my favorite songs.)
Kiseki no Umi (Links I found are live, and you can hear how much her voice as changed over the years considering the two songs were from when she was still very young.)
Kingfisher Girl
And also, did you know Karen has a new single out? Junjou Hanafubuki (BT on H!O) Tsunku was involved, so you better go check it out. Boogie Woogie Enka Pop!

Just get the Raichikyuu Kinen Collection Album "SPACE BIO CHARGE" album to start with since it's basically all of her best stuff shoved onto a Best of Album. It's 3 discs of HAPPY! (She's also known as Gabriela Robin, though she's never come out and said it's her.)]
After you've bankrupt yourself with Yuki Kajiura and Yoko Kanno you can move onto Akino Arai. (Who also worked with Yoko Kanno)
Most notable songs being
Hiru no Tsuki
VOICES
Adesso e fortuna ~Honoo to Eien~
And at 50, she's still releasing music today. Has two albums coming out on April. :D (So excited!)

Now let me make this very clear, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is to suggest any more hugely talented female Japanese composers for at least a year.
At this rate I'll have to go back to selling my body on the street again, and, let's be honest, I didn't make much money last time although I still get Christmas cards from several clients.

Re: What are you listening to right now ?
So, I downloaded Maaya Sakamoto's You Can't Catch Me album and the 2nd disc has live performances (recorded) from her 15th anniversary concert from Budokan, which was held on her 30th birthday.
She has a special medley with Yoko Kanno which I thought was amazing so I had to find it on youtube. SHARING NOW~ The costumes though.

No...at first I though I thought it must be some heavy duty crinoline or startch. But having never seen crinoline in action that I can recall I have no idea how her dress is so... big. And she moves around very awkwardly. I guess mid way through it looks like she's moving on wheels or something, but I saw her shoes so she's not.
In the end I think it just makes her look like a giant marshmallow. Kanno on the other hand, looks like the hunchbutt of Budokan.
And despite the throwing up of feathers and sparkles makes me appreciate some of the outfits H!P get.

Re: What are you listening to right now ?
I've got Namie Amuro's new songs, Go Round and YEAH-OH, stuck in my head. It doesn't help that I've watched, like, all of the news coverage for YEAH-OH. Both of the PVs are kind of boring, but Go Round does some interesting visual effects (for a pop video at least) and YEAH-OH is extremely catchy and the dance is mesmerizing.
The singe should already be out. Need some HQ versions immediately.
