Hello! Project Winter 2010 Concert Kachou Fuugetsu ~Shuffle Deeto~ DVD Cover Released

Post by Arichii »

The cover for Hello! Project Winter 2010 Concert Kachou Fuugetsu ~Shuffle Deeto~ DVD Cover has been released on H!O.

I think that it's really cute because it features all of members of Hello! Project in the revival sub-groups with new costumes <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />, it's really small but I think I'm going to like Shin Mini Moni's costumes alot because it looks like something the original Mini Moni would wear XD. Oh yeah and Buono and Guardian 4 are also in the cover as well <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />.

The release date is set for 3/31

(Oh yeah also this is my first time making a topic so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, am I allowed to make a topic on this?)

I'm so conflicted. Madara already has a Shuffle Deeto thread, but it's sorta not a oh, look at me this is what's going on and more of a question thread. So to merge or not to merge? I'll say no. Simply because this is what a dvd review thread would look like if I were making it, just with added previews and such. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

But in the future, Only make a topic if you have stuff other then a cover like a review or concert footage. Same goes for a CD or Album. Only make a thread if you have track lists, album covers and previews. Other then that this is all release thread stuff.

Also make sure you check back posts to see if someone else isn't already talking about your topic of interest. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

So as not to make this a total waste I'll give us something to talk about with the track listing.

One very nice thing about Shin Mini Moni, I'll finally hear Mini Moni songs live, I remember so many old Mini Moni performances that used the vocals from the CD. Lin Lin would be awesome doing the 2nd album tracks, I hope they work gangsta moni into concerts eventually.

LOVE LIKE CRAZY is one of my favorite H!P songs, so I can't wait to hear this version. I'm not a big Ai fan but I know she won't totally butcher it, I adore Eri, I don't like Saki at all but am willing to over look her.

I dunno, they look to be wearing those head mics in the cover. That usually means they go for the lip sync.

There's a little rule I follow with headsets. If they have the little receiver thing on the side, that means it's live vocals. If you look at the old Wonderful Hearts concerts, they used fake headsets A LOT. Since all of the girls are wearing the real headsets and not just one girl to say SANKYUU at the very end, you can probably decide they're going to sing live.

*Hello Bump!*

The Shuffle Concert was released on the 31st, I just got to watching bits and pieces of it. Has anyone else gotten a hold of it to watch or downloaded it, or YouTubed it. Whatever it is you do. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I don't normally like watching concerts but there was SO much in here I wanted to watch that I ended up watching the whole thing. D: So much so I had to go and order it. Mainly because of the song choices, I loved the set list and I love hearing old songs. It's like a giant Cover Concerts with little bits of new songs thrown in and I'm okay with that. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> They could have picked worse songs.

Highlights for me were Shin Minimoni, Tanpopo#, and Zoku V-u-den. And yes it does have everything to do with who was in it and the song choices. I liked the song choices. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I find Shin Minimoni to be very good live, well I may just be Kanon biased. ;D But they did sing live and they didn't sound bad doing it, even though they were out off breath but there was a lot of jumping around. You can tell the H!P Eggs have been working at this. They sound better then half of the current H!P Line-up. I'm especially curious how Karen will turn out in a few years once she's viable as an idol and not a pedobait idol.

Zoku V-u-den as a group make my ears bleed but it has Sayumi and Jun Jun in it! D: And to tell you the truth, Sayumi wasn't total fail so at least she was trying her hardest and I'll give her a little credit. Outfits were okay but totally not up to true V-u-den standards. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Tanpopo# is Love and I don't care what anyone says. It's got all my favorites, Minus Yurina of course. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> I loved their outfits, they were one of my favorites of the concert but I liked their outfits from the last time they sang togetherr in Concert and they all sounded pretty good during Ouji-Sama to Yuki no Yoru but Yurina still sounds like she's singing with Marbles in her mouth. :\

Love Like Crazy with Takahashi, Eri and Shimizu was okay, but the camera man sucked ass. To much movement and not enough focus if you know what I mean. They are the three best dancers in H!P and they didn't disappoint. ;D

Suki Sugite Baka Mitai was a let down, the vocals were not the best I've heard but then again you stick Sayumi, Maimi, Maasa and Reina together and it's like Tsunku was just pulling names out of a hat, seriously? Visually good, vocally I wanted to rip my ears out, again. I skipped around, V-u-den is after this.

Oh and it was nice to finally hear Pira! Otome no Negai with Mai in it, but I still don't care for the group. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Will review more once I'm done with this Japanese test and potentially my new drawing for drawing class, but I was sorely disappointed by Zoku v-u-den. They get one of the v-u-den singles that doesn't need vocal ability so much as pure energy and they blew it. Vocally they weren't terrible, but watching it they do NOT get into the performance and they don't have as much energy as they need to pull it off. They did a good song choice (Imagine them trying to pull off Hitorijime or Kurenai no Kisetsu *shudder*) but it didn't live up to my hopes at all. The Egg performance of Ai Suite Room in a recent concert was better.

Also, Tanpopo# kicks ass. They remind me so much of Gen 2 Tanpopo, I love it. I also enjoyed Shin Mini Moni and Pucchimoni V did a surprisingly good job on Chokotto Love; now I want to see them do Baisekou Daisekou.

If any of the Viyuuden songs needed vocal ability, I don't think the members would have been Erika, Yui, and Rika. I honestly consider them the weakest non-H!P kid H!P group. Maybe I'm weird.

I was so disappointed in Love Like Crazy. So very, very disappointed :I

Uwaki na Honey Pie - Cute, but it kind of lacked energy. I blame this partially on the fact that they had a ton of girls packed on a small stage, not giving them enough room to go crazy with the goofy dance.

Pen Pen Kyoudai / Mini. Strawberry~ Pie - I was pleasantly surprised with how good the two eggs sounded live. This group is awesome.

Going On! - I started to watch this but then skipped ahead. Not a huge fan of the song.

FIRST KISS / Yume to Genjitsu - First Kiss was pretty disappointing. Airi just can't sing this well anymore, and the other two girls were struggling. Yume to Genjitsu was a little rough around the edges, but it had a lot of energy and a cool dance.

Pira! Otome no Negai / Chokotto LOVE - This pretty much cemented my dislike for this group. Vocally, they're really grating. Mano's voice just isn't suited for these types of songs, either.

Ouji-sama to Yuki no Yoru / Umbrella - Looove these outfits and looove this group. I'm not even a fan of Aika or Yurina, but as a whole this group works well. Both songs sounded good.

Bravo☆Bravo / Renai♥Rider - Skipped. I like Buono and both songs, but nothing really new to see here.

BE ALL RIGHT! - Cute! The stage seemed really crowded though. LinLin sounds ridiculous belting some of these lines. Overall good though.

Suki Sugite Baka Mitai - Awful. As much as I love Maimi, even she wasn't sounding good on this.

LOVE LIKE CRAZY - Also pretty awful. I don't like Saki or her voice, but it was weird having her there pretty much only to grunt. I feel like pretty much all they did dance wise was prance back and forth across the stage. I don't think this song really works well live, the lines seemed really muffled and ran together.

Shiroi TOKYO / Iku ZYX! FLY HIGH - Eh. Give these girls some new material, watching two old songs is boring.

ONLY YOU / Koisuru♡Angel♡Heart - I loved Only You, the girls rocked it. Even Sayu sounded better than usual. Koisuru was a lot more grating. I've never seen the dance for thsi, since I didn't care for this song when the original v-u-den did it. lol at the hand job maneuver.

DESTINY LOVE - I really like this song, and they did well with it. I didn't watch their other two songs, not really interested.

Oh and I skipped RR21 too, I don't need to see that performed again.

My copy shipped out last week and it should appear any day now. When I get it I'm going right to this song. I loved it when Erina and Saki did it--Mai-less--in the summer concert. I love it on the Petit Best 10 CD, where I can distinguish each of the three voices, and I can't wait to see it performed with Mai in it. One of my favorite H!P songs in a long time.

For the intro, I like how they color coded by the groups, but I hate the zebra fur. I want to hear Miyabi & Lin Lin sing Honey Pie, they seemed to capture the original, in a weird way. No one really can replace Miki's role though.

Aa!'s T-shirts are great. No problems with either performance. I'm excited that there's one group without genre boundaries (not that H!P is ever really that strict with anything)

Mini Moni is back. Yaguchi will just have to roll around in her grave a bit. I like how they all have the same outfit (Sorry Mika), but used different colors for certain areas. It's plaid like Guardians 4, but it was done in a way that doesn't bore me. I commented about how Mini Moni always lipsynched and they give this Mini Moni jumpy Pen Pen choreography to make them too tired from bouncing for the vocals to come out at the quality which they should have. Overall, still pretty good. I forgot how much I liked Strawberry Pie and now the JUN JUN JUN JUN lines are extra hilarious to hear.

Pucchi Moni V's outfits are perfect, the skull gloves are really cute. They probably put the most effort into crafting a group specific look for Pucchi Moni & Mini Moni.

When I squint at Zoku-V.U, I see Uwasa no SEXY GUY cosplay. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

From their choices so far, the group is really only just fun rock mode and not Aisucream bunny girl groping mode. This is weird since we already have Buono, and we know Sayumi can't keep her hands to herself, so why are they making her play nice? They need new material, NOW.

Kamehashi Saki.. Shoi Ai.. Koumizu Eri, that's the one! LOVE LIKE CRAZY by Koumizu Eri. This is a hard song to sing live, I even remember people not being so impressed with the original group's performance of this. With that said, the fast parts sound like when fans who don't really know the words just try to mumble their way through the lines. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /lmfao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':omg:' />

HIGH-KING was one group that sounded as good as the original <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

but I didn't like how they basically stood in one place for all of DISNEY LOVE. Wow, I didn't think their name had a 2nd meaning besides translating Taka+Reina(Rey) to English, but every girl in it has led some group in H!P at one point. Tsunku amazes me.

The camera work was horrendous, blurred shots, close-ups when you needed wide-angle shots and vice-versa, choreography was meh and why bother having three girls when only two of them are doing anything and, even allowing that Ai and Eri are my favourites, a complete waste of bloody time.

That's definitely not live, at least not 100%. You can hear a lot of backup vocals / dvd editing on the rap lines. The way they put the whole performance together for her (dance, edited music) was much better though. Both performances wasted the opportunity for sexy costumes <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Yeah, there's a lot of backing vocals on Love Like Crazy, but I don't even think full on playback could have saved this shuffle performance D: One day I'll watch more from this concert but that perf left a sour taste in my mouth.

My copy came today and I sampled each chapter and watched some numbers in their entirety. First, of course, was Pucchimoni V's “Pira Otome no Negai.” And I was disappointed. It worked much better when Saki and Erina did it as a duo at last summer’s concert. And it sounded better then, too. (Although it sounds best on the Petit Best 10 CD.) It’s a difficult song to do live and this venue was wrong for it and the staging was awkward. Plus, the camera was all over the place and only rarely where it needed to be—on all three girls in medium long shot so we could see their moves together. And what’s with those woolen outfits? I kept fearing the girls were gonna melt onstage. I will say this, though: Saki N. was excellent here; she’s developed into quite a confident and assured performer. I hope they figure out better ways to use her.

The camerawork and lighting were bad throughout the parts I saw. Why did everything look so damned foggy? And why so many close shots when the girls were dancing, as in the High-King numbers, where you had three of the best dancers in H!P (Saki S., Ai T., Maimi) and you could hardly see their moves!

A lot of the singing was not up to par. The new V-u-den mangled those two songs. But, on the other hand, they certainly didn’t mangle those stunning red outfits. JunJun looked great, but Sayumi was just...wow! Remember how hot she was in that red satin number in last summer's concert? Well, she outdid herself here. When someone looks that awesome, I don't think she needs to worry about her singing. (GAM, eat your hearts out!)

But overall, I’m not sure I like the idea of constantly dredging up old material for these things, esp. when it’s material that was done perfectly the first time (e.g., “Fly High”) and the new versions are just pale echoes.

I’ll give a fuller report, probably on my blog, when I’ve actually had a chance to sit and watch the whole thing.

I should point out that this comes a day after watching the first half-hour of the H!P Summer 2007 10th Anniversary concert, which I'd never seen before. (How did I miss it?) If the rest of the concert is as fantastic as the first 30 min., then it will surely rank as one of the best H!P events of the last five years. More on it when I've seen the whole thing. (Between these two and Erina's "Introduction" concert and Buono's Live Hybrid Punch and C-ute's Cutie Jump and MM's Yomiuri Live and Aki 9 Smile with Koharu's graduation, I've got my viewing hours full of concerts lately.)

Okay, I watched the whole concert. As usual, I have mixed feelings. There wasn’t a whole lot of top-drawer material here. If I had to pick my favorite numbers, they’d be “First Kiss” by Aa (with two of the three original members, but seven years later), the two Zyx songs, the High-King set, and, with reservations, Pucchimoni V. And maybe throw in “Love Like Crazy,” done by Ai T., Eri, and Saki S. That’s only about nine numbers.

The best thing about this concert was simply watching Maimi and Saki S. come into their own as star performers on a par with—or, in my view, surpassing--anybody in Morning Musume. Not far behind them are Airi and Saki N. To my great surprise, Momoko was somewhat subdued here and not the attention-getter she normally is, probably because they simply didn't give her much to do. (Well, at least we have the Buono concerts to make up for that.) I’m not denigrating anyone else out of the 25 featured performers. I think they all did a fine job with less-than-stellar or overused material. It’s just that the ones I want to watch the most now tend not to be in MM. (Well, except for Sayumi in that patent vinyl red minidress in the V-u-den set, but that’s another story. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/perv.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geof:' /> )

The H!P Eggs are basically just a glorified chorus line, but they’re much more skilled and polished than I’ve ever seen them. It bothers me that the most talented ones, who’ve already proven themselves in working units, don’t get to leave the line and do more. I’m thinking of Minami Sengoku from Ongaku Gatas and Yuu Kikkawa and Sayaka Kitahara from Milky Way. And of the ones chosen to leave the line for work in other units in this concert, I’d say that Saki Ogawa and Kanon Fukuda have far greater potential than the others.

And, speaking of Eggs, where was Arisa Noto? Has she gone on to greener pastures? If so, where? I sure missed her.

Did the MC segments have to be so long? Did they even have to include them? Is keeping poor Makoto off the unemployment line that much more important than including five or six more songs? A bad bargain if you ask me.

And why did they stage the concert in such a tiny hall, in contrast with the giant arenas where they used to hold their winter concerts? Has the graduation of the Elder Club so reduced the popularity of these concerts? No wonder they couldn’t get any decent camera angles. There’s no room! And I still don’t know what possessed them to bathe the stage in that horrible washed-out lighting in the first few numbers. It looked like the entire audience had been smoking! The effect was really pronounced on my big-screen TV. When I manage to get a few screen grabs I’ll show you.

Oh, and I sure miss Koharu.

She's gone on to HAPPY! STYLE Communication Circuits where she and SI☆NA lead a bunch of other young girls (like the new YuiKaori) and they all do... something.

My guess is that there just wasn't enough time to put on two huge concerts in the same season by the same performers. Whereas in the previous winters when the two concerts were done by two mostly entirely different performers (Elder Club and Wonderful Hearts), this year both concerts were done by the same performers. One as their normal groups, one as shuffles. The shows all went on in the same month. My wild, unfounded guess is that the quality of the performances on this shuffle DVD varies so much because of divided preparation time. Although I guess they also did those combined H!P Award concerts in previous years as well, but weren't those mostly songs from their respective tours, just combined into one show?

I don't know. The Winter shows always confused because there was way too much for me to handle.

What's the first thing you do when you return home after a concert?

Are you serious? Just because you don't understand them or whatever doesn't mean that nobody else enjoys them. The MCs were better than most song performances this go around. Just skip them if you don't like them.

MCs are also breaks for the girls, and possibly pee breaks for fans.

It's a bit unrealistic to think that removing MCs would result in more music, it would just be a shorter experience overall. Also, this has about 23 songs, that's far from being a light concert. I never skip them on the first viewing. I feel I haven't seen the whole concert if I skip anything.

I suppose I shouldn't be so hard on ol' Makoto. Maybe I'm just jealous of him.

One of the segments was eight minutes, though. I think that's a little long for these things. But, on the other hand, it's the one that had the whole JunJun/Saki interaction, so maybe it was worth it. I enjoyed that.

Yeah, I guess if they were subtitled I wouldn't be complaining.

See? Ya talked me into it. Let's keep the MC segments after all! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

And here are some screen grabs to illustrate what I'm talking about, re: the washed-out lighting.

And they even washed out poor V-u-den, making those gorgeous dresses harder to see:
