So which blogs are actually worth it?

Post by al kusanagi »

With most of the former HP member having established blogs and with current members having them pop up every day, I was wondering which ones people thought were actually worth a damn. I was ecstatic to find old favorites like Mai Satoda's, Kei's and Yuko's (among others), but they got old real quick because they're ALL THE SAME!!! Food, work, obligatory weekly two-shot with other former member/celebrity, repeat... They're worth checking out every so often, but you can skip it for a month and jump right back in as if nothing happened. So which ones actually are worth reading every day?

note: doesn't really need to be HP related, but they're probably a few dozen ones out there now for HP alone to sort through

In my (awesome) opinion:

Sayumi's! Of course Sayumi's. How is it not gonna be Sayumi's? Whether you love her or hate it, it should be required reading for any MM fan. You get tons of insight to her unique insight, awesome sense of humor (including multiple shots at herself), and a whole lot of backstage member antics. Also, if you do get pictures of food, it is usually being shoved down a members throat (75% of the time Linlin's) or it comes with a decent story/anecdote. There are also handy translations here.

C-ute's! It's only a week old but, much like monkeys, cupcakes, and zombies, Chisato makes EVERYTHING better. With all the members posting on a single blog, it also helps cut down on the same-old same-old. Also, Maimi likes doggies.

Reina's. Actually, pretty light on substance, but Reina does put up a ton of hawt pics. The girl knows how to dress and loves her some short skirts. Also, Ameblo's layout is (still) crap.

Erika Miyoshi's! Not super awesome like some of the others, but she was always HP's red-headed stepchild and it's fun to see what she's up to.

Rika's! Not too bad and with lots of good pictures, but the fact that it's on a shitty cell phone site kills it. Still, it's Charmy!

Yossie's! Sorry, it's not on the web. It's more of a series of cave paintings scrawled from blood and poop. Don't worry, it's not hers though!

Actually, I'm really liking the particular insight into MM even from just Sayumi and Reina's blogs (with a bit of Aika's) and seeing just how the group dynamic is. Reina seems to basically be a loner until she gets bored and goofs off with other members. Ai's always been a quiet loner geeky type, but it seems her and Linlin have become a fun little pair (both seem to have the same hobbies, and super-introvert Ai and ultra-extrovert Linlin make for a good balance). Sayu, Eri, Risa, Aika and Junjun all seem to be one big, goofy group, although it seems Sayumi and Risa are in a constant battle for Eri's affections. Aika and Junjun are completely Sayu's bitches.

Mari's, with the great translations on Hello!Online. That girl works her attractive arse off and she is always making jokes against herself. She comes across as chattering, full of fun and adoreable <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /heart.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />, but there again she was one of my all-time favourites in MM.

I agree with you.

I like to fly over her posts and read the (many) entries where she's together with other people.

I read C-ute and S/mileage's blogs, for C-ute's stories are always interesting and the S/mileage members are just adorable in their posts.

I really like Fukuda Kanon's. I don't read it everyday, but she has the same appeal as Sayu and Reina - she tends to write a lot of entries about what the other girls in her group are doing. She also shopped a photo of herself for April Fools. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> So I figure she's pretty entertaining as far as 4-times a day bloggers go.

Kago's twitter is also a pretty good read. Unless you reaaally like her, you might not want to follow her if you have an account. She tends to be pretty spammy, and she uses twitter like any other non-celebrity - she talks back and forth with her non-celeb (or D-list celeb xD) friends. That sounds like it might be cool to read, but really you just have no idea what she's talking about. BUT, she does answer fan tweets to her occasionally, and she'll say something she probably shouldn't every once in a while that's pretty funny. Lots of pictures too.

Yeah, Kago's twitter is quite funny sometimes. I do follow her because of the pictures. Her dog is so cuuute!

My favorites, though are: Mari's, Sayumi's, Kanon's and Reina's in that order. I loved Mari's posts about how she was learning to drive, ha ha! It made me remember my days... But I barely follow the rest... Tsunku's can be funny sometimes too! Specially if you like NGP.

And I've just remembered that blooper from... Canary Club's blog? Or was it from the anime's group? The one with Ogamana changing clothes in the back. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I personally enjoy how no one mentions Tsuji. 8o Her blog has so many emoticons that it's impossible to read for me. Sayumi's blog though is really entertaining.

Mari's was one of the reasons I created this thread. You will notice it's not on my list. At first it was good, but after reading it for a couple of months it all started to blur together into the aforementioned work/food/two-shot pattern. I still check it out, but most of her jobs bore me and her social circle is boring since I can get my Mai fix on her own blog.

Also, Ameblo totally sucks ass, although I'm assuming when most people talk about her blog they mean the translated version which has a far better layout than the Japanese one.

Ahem, I like the Buono blog quite a bit.

I refuse to read any blog that is updated 100x a day with stupid posts filled with emoticons and maybe 2-3 real words on..."don't I look cute today?" Hooray for Al because otherwise I'd never know the joy of Sayumi's blog and now, the Cute blog. It is too bad that I don't actually know anything about Cute (other than Airi and the other pretty one, Maimi).

C-ute's blog is some good reading <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... umbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I also like Koharu's blog that started yesterday, especially when she talks about agriculture and shit. The only downside is she'll do posts that are just a bunch of replies to comments she got.

Isn't that usually an upside? It would be fun to hear back from your favorite celebrity when you commented. Unless she's just handing out generic "Thanks everybody!!!" replies.

Junjun and Linlin have blogs now. Too bad I don't read Chinese and the place that's translating them seems a mess to navigate.

Well yeah, it's an upside if you leave comments, but if you're just a reader like me then those posts aren't very interesting.

And Risa gets in on the act. Considering how much the girl talks, I'm almost afraid to see how much she'll write.

And, dammit, I really hate blogs that only put one entry per page.

It seems pretty easy to navigate to me? I just clicked on the JunJun tag and it gave me a direct feed. Not the best designed site for sure, but at least someone is translating the blogs and the English isn't terrible.

I thought Risa already had a joint blog with Eri, somehow tied in to their radio show? Oh well, I hope it produces lots of silly Eri/Risa/Sayu antics like Sayu's blog.

May-Lyn's is translating Jun and Lin's as well.

I just flipped through Reina's blog and got an entry where she professes her love of Big Bang.

Tanaka Reina, you're all right. XD

I wish the members of ºC-ute and Berryz would get their own individual blogs. I'd love to read Airi's or Miya's.

I really like Rika's; it always has great pics and it's good if you're a fan of OG Musume. The site it's on IS shitty (I can't comment unless I have a specific cell phone, gahhhh), but content-wise it's great. One downside: the fact that it's not translated. I want. A translation. Bad.

C-ute's blog's impressed me lately! I'm getting more and more into all of them, Maimi (my favorite) In particular. Great pics and I love their group antics.

Mari's is always fun.

Sayu's is really good, too, for just MM knowledge.

The one I have issues with is Aika's blog; I LOVE Aika, but. The blog sucks. But I think it's because the blog's RIDICULOUSLY modded, in that every picture has the Up-Front watermark on it, so you know they had to approve everything she posts and that might be why she doesn't post too much.

MayLyn has a pretty decent list, though it doesn't include Aika's. Supposedly that one is on the fanclub page somewhere.

Jeez, so many blogs. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nfused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I'm wondering if this is a Tsunku marketing ploy since Reina and Sayu's (and even Koharu's) blogs are so popular. It makes me wonder how many of them actually wanted to get blogs and got the OK, and how many were just suggested/told to get blogs for the group.

We started one here:

http://mm-bbs.org/index.php?s=&showtop...ost&p=65496

But it needs to be updated with all 13098203129381 of the new blogs. We should also get a corresponding list of translation sites.

ps. oh yeah, I stopped bothering with Kaori's blog because it was so boring <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lesson:' /> I totally forgot about that.
