Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" video released

Post by neshcom »

Here's the official video on Vevo

Um...Okay. It's a summer-y, latin-infused, Ace-of-Base-esque song about a harem so the natural music video must be reminiscent of Nazi Germany, Russia, frozen monasteries, and men in high-heels? The narrative isn't completely lost on me, but I just wasn't expecting such a cold video.

I think it was polled as the summer song of 2010 and I'm still a bit surprised at that. Alejandro was definitely in my bottom two for The Fame Monster (right after So Happy I Could Die). I really thought the next best single choice would have been Dance in the Dark, but oh well. Wasn't this also supposed to be the conclusion to Telephone? I guess they're waiting for the single from the new album... I STILL WANT DANCE IN THE DARK REMIXES THOUGH DAMMIT <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Wow, what a shitty site.

You can't even fast forward to a point of your desire.

Yeah, I didn't watch the rest, since it started off so boring with Shakira and a football game thing.

EDIT:

Your link actually redirects to http://worldcup.vevo.com/ and plays some generic Shakira crap.

Maybe it's not available in your country?

Try this link: this one is a direct click from the Lady Gaga artist page.

Link worked fine for me, after the silly secret ad commercial.

The video was like watching an art movie, but with more sex up images then a porno but without actually showing anything. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';/' />

Best part was the gun bra. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';/' /> (Not)

I didn't like this song when I first heard it and I still don't like it. Gaga needs to put out a new album now, I'm bored.

Telephone was better. :T I don't even really get the theme of this. It was interesting, though! I am looking forward to reading interpretations, though. Especially VigilantCitizen's, but for purely comedic reasons. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';/' />

And yeah man, J-Pop has spoiled me. 2 new songs every 3 months and then an album of 5 or so new songs every year instead of just 1 album every other year or w/e. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';/' /> Fuck you America.

She said her next album would probably be released next year, though.

Edit: I WANTED DANCE IN THE DARK TOO. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';/' /> At least it wasn't Teeth.

Well um...I like her eye makeup in this one?

That's about all I've got. I'm not a big fan of this song either, and it feels like there's a huge disconnect between the song and the video. Maybe I'm missing something since I've never listened to this song too carefully. Definitely ready for some new material from her.

1. Reminds me of Madonna.

2. I really like her weird glasses outfits/the smoke drifting from her pipe.

3. I am in love with her eye makeup. It's stunningly beautiful. I need to figure out how to do it stat!

I liked the song but it's been playing on the radio since bad romance came out. DITD would've been a better choice, but I guess they'll milk it eventually.

I enjoyed Teeth and I think it could be good video fodder. There's an...interesting "Haus of Gaga" video floating around that neither features Gaga nor highlights song well. I'll find it later. Here it is. There are enough hints that it could be legit and plenty of aspects that scream fan-made. I mean, there's a short, new piano composition before it, but then there's the font...

You mean lack of? The wig was way too small on her and she was seriously lacking makeup. I liked her in the pantsuit scenes. In that first spoken part, she looks like a tranny lipsyncing the line.

I love The Fame Monster & Gaga in general, but Katy Perry's "California Gurls" is way more summer than anything on TFM.

First thing I thought of, too. Like True Blue or Like A Prayer era Madonna.

I like the song okay, but that's about it. The video is just wacky, but that's what I expect from Gaga. Boy-on-Boy action seems to be the final frontier in "shocking" MV visuals. Go watch Christina Aguilera's new video chock full of boring bondage, girl-on-girl and orgy scenes. The internets have made hetero and lesbo sex passe.

She has plenty of eye makeup on, two slightly different styles. At 2:39, you can see she has a heavy white shadow that blends into silver from the inside corner. Sparkly white lower lid liner + lowlight grey under that. Accent gem on the outer lashes. It's not her usual over the top makeup style, but it's very visible and very pretty. At 5:09 you can see she's got darker thicker lashes, either heavy mascara or false lashes. Thick liner going from the corners of her eyes, and it looks like they've darkened the silver/grey in the white to silver fade. Lower lid liner is darker too.

The REST of the makeup though, I'm not too fond of. :/

This video and Telephone are both GORGEOUS to look at, but lack the somethin'-somethin' that Bad Romance possessed. I really want her to put out another video like that - not a bunch of messages all jumbled up until the video means nothing anymore, but a video with an actual (discernible) story and subtext. Alejandro was also one of my least favorites off the album, I wish the next single had been Dancer in The Dark or Monster <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> Also, the intro to this is not NEARLY as interesting as the one in Telephone, it drags on and on like woah. This is still a very, very above average video but I know she can do better.

I don't think Vevo works outside of the US, Nesh.

I'll watch it some other time. I like the song, but her videos always are so spacey...

And on a side note, i just now realised that's GaGa in your set, Ang.

VIGILANT CITIZEN'S ALEJANDRO INTERPRETATION IS OUT

http://vigilantcitizen.com/?p=3979

And it's LAAAAME. His other articles on Lady Gaga and her videos are way better. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':frown:' /> There was so much shit in this that I thought of that he could've spun into something vague and senseless, but man. I'm disappointed. What happened to you, crazy Illuminati Guy.

That's a pretty cool interpretation. I guess I'm not that knowledgeable about most of those symbols, so I never caught them.

I thought the basic narrative of the video was that Gaga used to be married to a high-ranked military officer and their marriage was very tame/chaste (images of them sitting in bed motionless, images of Gaga lying down in the full-length latex suit motionless/eating the rosary). Her husband kills himself and it's either due to their loveless marriage or Gaga instigated his suicide (bed scene where he is shown with marionette strings and the golden gun). After his death (and funeral), Gaga gains control of his men (either through inheritance or a coup).

And then she rapes them. Her long-awaited sexual release. All the while, she remembers what her husband was about (late images of destruction) and either why she was attracted to him or that she was forced to marry him.

And then gun bra.

It's cool until you read the other articles and realize that he literally thinks Lady Gaga is a puppet that was drugged and tortured into being mind controlled by the Illuminat so she could in turn be used to mind control all of the world via the mass media. As well as every other pop artists. He thinks that Beyonce putting her hands on her head is her symboling Baphomet's horns.

Honestly, I still don't know what to make of the video. At least Telephone had a discernible storyline.
