Let's talk about SUPER☆GiRLS!

I'm wondering if anyone else has any info about this because I don't trust a site that's a sister site to allkpop. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> (Especially a site that doesn't list their sources!)

Another massive idol group will make their debut this August at a-nation. You read that a-nation, meaning it’s an Avex idol group that they say will rival the top idol group, AKB48. Who is this group you ask? A group of 12 young teenagers who call themselves “SUPER☆GiRLS”. On June 12, Avex held its final round of “Avex Idol Audition 2010” at Nakano Sun Plaza. Since Avex was first established this was their first ever idol audition. Seven thousand girl’s auditioned, 24 hopefuls, and only 12 were chosen to take on the task of outshining super idol group AKB48.



The 12 members are: Saori Yasaka (21), Kaede Kano (17), Eri Akita (17), Rika Shimura (17), Rina Miyazaki (16), Hikaru Watanabe (16), Reira Arai (15), Rino Katsuta (15), Mirei Tanaka (13), Ruka Mizote (13), Aya Goto (13) and Ami Maeshima (12).



Their first single “Be with you” will have three songs and they will perform at a-nation on August 7.

Avex can do sluty, they can try sexy, but can they do cute? Those are all major when you're talking about idols. ;D

I've already flipped out over this on another forum, but I think it's bullshit that Avex held a huge national audition to create a new super-unit and hold the audition finals at a concert hall, yet the only trace of a concept they can announce for this vanilla group is that they want to "outshine AKB48". Like dude. The only thing you can do to make us interested amongst the dozens of other idol groups who are either well into their activities and/or have actual concepts is "We want to be bigger than AKB48!" then I'm already kind of turned off. They haven't even showed us the girls beyond a few group pictures.



Dumb. This is why your idol groups don't sell, Avex. Targeting AKB48 in a threatening way like that is also not a good way to get their fans to like you.

What Avex doesn't have is a producer that knows how to handle a bunch of teenage girls. Unfortunately, Tsunku and Akimoto are busy right now. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... iggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



If Avex wants this group to last more then a single, they need to get them out there and show their faces, talk, sing, show some flesh. Wotas wont buy what they can't fap too. ;D

Is 12 really all that massive? Perhaps I've been desensitized because of AKB and SKE, but Idoling!!! has, what, 20 members? Even freakin' Ebichu added 5 members when I wasn't paying attention a few weeks ago (oh, I'm sorry, "new students") to get to 12. The only thing massive is the group they're trying to take down. I mean, I know it's all marketing to make sure people associate them with AKB48 in their minds as a successful idol group. It also ensures a headline that idol fans will click, but I'm not sure I'll trust silly Avex idol marketing until something actually works.

I'm not very excited for this. Normally I am all over girl groups from any company because I just love the music and the adorableness of everything. Something about these girls just isn't drawing me in

Watching that video made me feel like I was watching some Asayan Morning Musume Audition footage.



The first song seems interesting with the dance, but the rest... meh. Maybe the PVs will make them all more exciting, hopefully?

I like the second song - it reminds me of old school Dream songs like My Will. The first one is incredibly throw away imo, and the third is just... misguided. It doesn't seem to know what kind of song to be.

Agreed, but I figured that was my Avex-whore mind speaking. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I don't know, I'm just not a fan of their more "idol" sounding song (the first one) because of its "YAY, I'M SO HAPPY SINGING ABOUT SUGAR AND RAINBOWS" vibe. I'm probably the minority in that, though. I look forward to seeing them perform their second song, and so far I seem to have taken an odd liking to Tanaka Mirei. I like her hairstyle and she seems to have performed well with the rest of the group for being the youngest. /drawn like a magnet to the group babies

Fuck Avex, yet again. They had Dream, the second greatest idol group around which had more concentrated Kansai awesomeness than HP has ever had, and they fucked it up.



Just get some oiled up 11 year olds in thongs to give AKB something to compete with and leave the real idols to HP.
