Kouhaku Artist AND Song List!

NHK has announced the song list for this year's Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Some notable facts are that eight of the groups will be performing medleys, and Mitsuko Nakamura will be singing "Kawachi Otoko Bushi" for the 8th time, which is a record for the show.



The performance order has not yet been announced. Artists are listed in Japanese alphabetical order.

I had no idea Hideaki Tokunaga was still popular -- he made his first Kohaku appearance a few years ago too. Yoshizawa covered one of his famous songs in that one TV show they used to have (one on one chat and then live song with band -- what was it called?). I am looking for her cover on youtube but can't find it. Here is the original:

As for the rest...who are these people? I am clearly not up to speed with the new artists, like Ikimono Gakari who I keep seeing everywhere.

They're a cute little pop-rock trio (although the male members of the band get short-shrift in marketing and videos in facor for the female singer's face). I like when they do songs such as their most recent single "Kimi ga Iru" and sometimes they'll even go 'crazy' and have actual fun like in "Joyful". Many of their songs have a laid back sort of rock sound, such as the recent "Arigatou" but she's got a pretty voice for it.

I wonder if the girls have a chance this year with AKB, Nishino Kana, and the ever-growing Ikimongakari. I'm not happy they replaced Nakamura Yukie as the girl host <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm just happy Aya Ueto is finally not popular-ish. However, I have NO IDEA who Nao Matsushita is. Out of the loop!
