Not sure why it didn't work... I copy and pasted it :aseru: and it worked.

I tested a new post by putting it with the emoticon menu and it worked. I guess it's just funny like that sometimes. So I guess next time, just copy & paste if it doesn't work.

I'm doing Risa's blog. I just usually update late at night when most of the world ahead of PST time is asleep. Plus I didn't keep up with her for a while because of the quake and she didn't post so I forgot about her, but I started again a while ago. I just did a whole bunch of translations today and yesterday and last week.

I'm on spring break so I'll be catching up on all her blog posts that I've missed since April 1st. I started translating again when Saki started blogging again, but Risa had started blogging before that!



Oh and I'm doing her latest posts right now. The Kame post only has a picture with food D: Sayu blogged about meeting Eri too and didn't post any pictures either D:

I'm beginning to see Em-El's side on the blog posts - maybe we should go back to displaying just the latest post of each girl? With the influx of C-ute and Berryz blogs, we now have so many blogs being frequently updated that things get pushed off the front page fast.



Is there any way we can have some sort of icon that shows when a particular girl has been updated? Right now we have the "new" image next to all the categories that were recently added, would it be possible to have something like that (or even smaller and more subtle) to display when new posts were added? With so many blogs and a limited amount of space on the front page, I'm not sure of a good way for posts not to get overlooked =/

The problem is if we do Em-El's way, my backtracked posts may be easily overlooked. Say if rob updated like right after me, my old posts would get buried in the Jun Jun category and there's no way of knowing I posted them. That's why the calendar is there though. So you can see what was posted on a particular day.



But I'll try to see if I can do it again anyways, but don't have much hope. I really had a lot of difficulty before. I'll also try to look into the new category thing. Zaeleus said he look into it, but he's a busy guy so I don't know when he'll get into it.

Ahh good point, I forgot about backdated posts. If it's a huge pain, don't worry about it :) I'm just trying to think of ideas, since it seems like posts keep getting missed. Really, there's a lot of ways to see recent posts from each girl (clicking their category, the calendar). I guess for most people though, if it's not right on the front page they miss it. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />

The board layout itself doesn't really seem geared towards older posts. I'd wager most people don't even know older blog posts are being translated and either just look at the newest ones or, if they are new to the site, start at the beginning and work their way forward.



I have no idea what options the board has, but if there was a way to have a calendar or something on the sidebar when you went to each individual member's page, then we could show exactly which posts had been added by coloring the dates or something. Something like black=no posts on that date, blue=older posts, red=newly translated posts. That way, the new translations of older posts would be overlooked.

1. Stats say the main page gets all the views. However, does it count when people click AFTER the main page? We get a lot of direct page hits from hello-online when they are specifically linked there.



2. Who is our main readership? Casual readers (who might like streaming variety on the front page) or single-minded fans (who would prefer an idol-by-idol layout)? This should impact our site design.

How would this calendar work? My posts are many months back. The calendar just shows the current month.

I can show a recent list of posts like a recent list of comments on the sidebar for each girls' page instead. But I don't know if this would really help that much? I doubt people like navigating posts like that.

I don't know if you guys can see the other stats. The Site Stats seem to not show how many times page 2 of the home page is clicked on.



Also, there's a lot of people that seem to just click on the girls' pages. And there's a lot of people that just follow the RSS of individual girls. But I don't really know if it's more than navigating the home page.

The calenders I'm thinking of on blogs usually have an arrow to each side of the name of the month where you can just click and cycle through them all month by month. If what I proposed is possible, you could just click is and see if any red (or whatever color) dates pop up and then click on them to go right to those entries.

The current calendar can cycle through the months now too. But, I honestly don't think most people would dig that deep.

It would also make things easier for people catching up on the backlog too, though. As it is now, if you wanted to read them all but could not in a single sitting, like Sayu's 100+ pages, you'd have to remember the page you left off at to go back to them. Just getting back to it would be a pain since they're only displayed 5 pages at a time, and even if you remembered what page number it was exactly, new posts would come along and change the page number. The calendar would at least let people keep track of posts and navigate the older ones easier.



That being said, I think most visitors are more interested in the current entries, and we should probably focus more on the current updated blogs that are only sporadically translated (like Mano, Maimi, most of the Berryz), rather than bother with a backlog of older posts.
