Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
Is Makoto the only male who's ever done MC duties at an H!P concert? I can't think of any others myself, but maybe there were fan club events I haven't seen that might have recruited somebody else.
In any event, is there any reason why they've never recruited a popular male J-pop star or actor, someone the girls might actually find cute and attractive, to be the MC? I think the dynamic would be a lot of fun to watch. I'm really getting tired of stone-faced, bowl-cut Makoto. And he has a horrible effect on most of his female co-hosts (think Mari and Yossi, who drop all their charm once they stand next to him), although Atsuko Inaba did a fine job, seemingly immune to his negative influence. I miss her.
Granted, the conventional wisdom is that the Wotas would be insanely jealous of anyone that the girls might like and that would be enough to squelch the notion. But has this idea ever been seriously considered by the powers that be?
I seem to remember bringing this topic up about five or more years ago, but I don't remember what the responses were like. And the nature of H!P concerts has changed so much that I wonder if the time isn't ripe to try something new. At the very least it might bring more female fans to the concerts.
Any thoughts?

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
No. No even remotely attractive guys under 40 around HP.
There is a comedian that hosts S/mileage's ustream and events sometimes, but Makoto has been the only male MC for as long as HP has been around, or at least as far back as I can remember.

This is the site that had all the tracklists and everything, that replaced the old J-pop Wiki (or whatever it was called). I'm sure some of you were contributors. I have it bookmarked, but when I went to it just now, I got: "Page Not Found: Apologies, but you're looking for something that is not there."
Has it moved? Is it under a different category on that site?
Anyone?
Thanks.

Generasia
Generasia will be moving to a virtual dedicated host during the weekend to improve load times and prevent issues with high server load. During this time, the site may be inaccessible, so apologies for any inconvenience this may cause!
...
Generasia
Update: again, apologies for the delay. Once again, I've spoken with the host who said they'll expedite this for today. As I've set up the nameservers, the change should be instant with noticeably improved load times. Luckily, the ads help with this issue, but it's still a headache trying to get something up that thousands rely on daily. Thanks for your patience!

With no evidence at all I always got a gay vibe from Makoto, I am sure somebody will now tell me he's famed for having sex with multiple groupies, been married 5 times and has 15 children.

Are you the one who's moving all my posts to H!P 101?
I can understand with the second one, but my first post, about male MC's, was meant to be a topic of discussion and speculation, not a strict yes-or-no question. I felt it deserved its own thread. Moving it in here reduces the chance of spurring much discussion. Consider this a protest.

When you said "Makoto" I of course thought about Ogawa Makoto, but your post still felt somewhat believable at first.
Of course this changed when I read "had a lot of sex".

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
Quick question:
True or false:
The last Morning Musume graduation to occur during a Hello! Project concert rather than a Morning Musume concert was that of Makoto and Asami in the Summer 2006 Wonderful Hearts Land concert.
If false, which one occurred later?
Thanks.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
Is there any reasoning as to why the stage setups have changed for H!P concerts?
I noticed this with older videos, but this one isn't quite as old:
ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL 2008
But yet, comparing it to the most recent H!P concert...Miyabi's Ai no Sono. Linked due to awesome.
Is it because there are less members? Or less people attenting?

Well, it's isn't in the same place. Concert used to be done in Saitama Super Arena, and now it's in Sun Plaza, right?

Yeah, the concert halls are smaller than the arenas. Even if it is possible to move the seats, it would take out like half the seats. But the triple graduation recently was in an arena and they went out into the stage extension in that one.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
The Blu-ray editions of the H!P Summer 2010 and Winter 2011 concerts offered extra numbers, which helped ease the pain of the high prices.
A number of new concerts will also come out in Blu-ray editions, yet neither CDJapan nor Hello! Project Generasia indicate any extras on the Blu-rays.
Does anyone know for sure if there will or will not be extra numbers on the Blu-rays of the concerts listed below?

What's the concert where Maki played taiko drums during one of her songs, and what song was it?
Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
OK, something that has just occurred to me when watching a concert DVD.... all the H!P ensemble e.g. Wonderful Hearts type concerts usually have the VTR thingy at the start when they show who is performing and all the fans/wota cheer loudly when their faourite(s) appear.
Until that is when the "Produced by Tsunku" is shown when there is pretty much absolute silence, why? Surely you would want to give a cheer to the person who made it all happen, got the girls together, wrote most of the songs etc.
Is Tsunku a prophet without honour in his own country or is there some other reason?

It's Maki Goto Concert Tour 2004 Autumn:
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=PKBP-5027
The number with the taiko drumming is #13: "Dance Dance Dance" (Chap. 13 - starts at 50:12). It's a 6-minute number and the drumming starts at 53:31.
There are four back-ups who join in the drumming. One of them is Atsuko Inaba.
On a vaguely related note, I saw some traditional Japanese musical instruments, along with other Japanese art objects, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last weekend and I was inspired to do a new blog entry on what I saw. Here's a koto they have in their collection:
And is this a cool Edo period bento box or what?:

They are still pissed he got rid of Maki.
But seriously, unless he was actually going to appear on stage at the concert, why would you cheer for someone that isn't there.

Re: The Official H!P Question Thread
A friend (who's not on this board) asked me to come up with Hello! Project trivia questions. I came up with quite a few, but there were some I didn't know the complete answers to, so I wanted to ask them of you because I'd like to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. Thanks.
1) Which rejected MM auditionees became pop stars on their own?
Koda Kumi is the only one I know of. Were there others?
2) What H!P performers went on to careers outside of H!P?
Maki Goto, Ai Kago. Any others?
3) Who auditioned for MM, didn’t get in, but was chosen to join H!P in some other capacity?
I.e., became Eggs or something. Didn't Yuu Kikkawa initially audition for MM?
4) Who was the youngest member ever to join MM?
I figure it's between Asuka Fukuda, Ai Kago and Kanon Suzuki, but it comes down to how many months after their 12th birthday they joined. Has anyone ever calculated this? (I was gonna look their dates up on H!P Generasia, but the site's not working for me right now.) I'm guessing Kanon.
Thanks.
