It could also be for "fan club." Co-ra-bu? Like how lots of Japanese things get abbreviated into four characters?

My dad was dicking around on YouTube and found a version of "Silent Night" in Japanese that was by this group called "Morning Musume?" I've never heard of them, but...whatever.

The title might've been wrong; might've been a shuffle or whatever.

What year was this recorded, and did they do any more Christmas carols? It sounded kinda old gen; the video that came with the song didn't do much good for me. I think it was an OPV with Tanpopo. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Thanks. c:

That's a different video from what I saw, but this does tell me what gens were in it, and I was right for the most part. I knew it was fourth gen at the latest, didn't know fifth gen was in it as well.

Also Kei in pigtails 8o

Thanks PeaQue. <3

Was the original video you/your dad found this? That one's some weird Perfume OPV w/ MM singing.

Just wondering...

Could someone please tell me what the official colors of the girls are? Including S/mileage, Berryz, and C-ute. Does Mano have a color too?

For MM, no need to include the new girls.

Ooooh, thanks guys.

I need to use it on the blog. I hope the girls don't change colors .gdfgdfgdfg!!!

Also, it's hard to tell between a lot of the girls. Gotta make up some of my own color scheme, I guess.

Berryz seem to be the only group that change colors often.

It's okay to use the official ones. There aren't enough colors to make everyone distinct, but just having some distinction will help. If two different reds come right after another, then oh well, it's no big deal. At least it'll stand out from the others.

I had only known the official colors for MM prior to this, interesting. Looking at the list Al posted, it's a bit eerie. My favorite members of MM, Berryz, and C-ute all have green as their color! This and, teal is my favorite color IRL. I don't particularly have a favorite member from S/mileage yet, as I adore them all so damned much. But if fate has anything to say about it, Saki could be the one I'm being guided towards.

I want to know a popularity ranking of Morning Musume's members, based on what the Japanese think. (Meaning, just because a certain member on a certain American website is plastered all over the place, doesn't mean she's the number one ranked member in Japan.)

Is it Sayumi, because of her appearing on several shows?

Or is it Ai, because she's the "ace" of the group with the most lines and whatever?

Is it Aika (everyone's least favorite member in the West), because she's got big boobs?

I dunno what you would base popularity on. I guess the income that's made by each member? Or, some silly polls made on 2ch ranking the members?

Either way, I wanna know. ;P

The mixi ranking is the closest we get to a popularity ranking. Mixi is a Japanese social network and the numbers are how many people joined the fan community. Usually with news and/or public appearances the number rises. With Takahashi's graduation announcement she is on the rise.

Date 9/1/2011

4,333 Reina Tanaka

4,252 Ai Takahashi

3,882 Sayumi Michishige

1,704 Risa Niigaki

816 Aika Mitsui

513 Riho Sayashi

312 Fukumura Mizuki

252 Kanon Suzuki

156 Erina Ikuta

Btw Linlin was around 400 and Jun Jun around 650.

There's a dude on H!O who has a friend who works at H!P stores and this person posts the sales rankings of each person's goods (or he has been completely making up numbers for the last six years).

Someone made a chart

Thanks so much for the info, you two. Slightly surprised that Reina has the most topics/posts on that Mixi site. I noticed the red line in that one graph and was like WTF happened? Then I realized it was Koharu and she graduated. Seems like Ai and Sayumi are the big sellers. 8th gen's sales have been awful! (not a surprise, but they seem to be much lower than the rest of the members).

EDIT: Holy shit. Asami Konno's sales had been consistently first or second back in '05 and '06. I can't BELIEVE she was one of Morning Musume's most popular members.

Questions about Buono.

How did they choose which girls to put into a trio? Did they try different girls in different combinations first? Or did someone simply come up with the idea full-blown that those specific three would blend well together? Were they originally designed just to do an anime song and then, only when they saw how well they worked together, did they decide to follow up with singles and concerts? Or was it always planned that they would go from anime songs to the singles to the concerts?

Just curious. Thanks.

They were probably picked because they blended well together, I don't know the specifics on that, Tsunku probably picked them himself like he does with all groups, but yes, they were originally created for Shugo Chara! but I guess they became popular enough for concerts/albums/etc.

Do all of H!P's releases end up on US iTunes now? I was about to impulse buy Kikkawa Yuu's single, but if it's on iTunes I'll buy it from there.

Kikkawa is just UFA not H!P, but I hope they release it on iTunes myself. All those songs she's releasing, I don't want to buy all those CDs.

Doesn't look like she's on there, at least not yet. I searched her name with Japanese and English, as well as the song title, and all that turned up was a Kirarin album.

How does one get tickets to an H!P concert if they are not part of a fan club?

S/mileage is having 1 show in Osaka this fall and I'd like to go.
