THANK GOD. I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG.

Is it really just 15 days away though? Even though I don't like her it still seems unfair.

It's like Kanna all over again, except Aika actually gets a graduation ceremony...

To be honest this saddens me, I always thought Aika had the potential to do well if she stopped with the weird singing voice like Koharu would do and didn't routinely suffer fron her foot injury.

It is quite sudden, but maybe she wanted to get out as soon as possible if there was no real chance for her to recover properly and felt there was no point in staying. Otherwise she probably would have had to wait until either the summer tour or the fall tour.

I haven't been on this site in months, but I had to sign in to say THANK FUCKING GOD.

It's honestly depressing the amount of wasted potential this girl represents.

I might actually go back and pay attention to MM after all of this.

Time for Karin? Image Or hey, how about pulling a Miki and bring in Yuu? <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... R#>/8o.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8o' />

Kinda sucks for Risa, she wont be leaving on her own like she probably planned. Sucks for Aika because now she's going to have a bunch of angry Risa fans thinking she ruined Risa's special day.

Sucks for Aika's bones because they were like, NOPE! You will not advance.

At least she'll still be in Hello!Project (maybe). I think it's for the best, it's obvious that they want Morning Musume to be a high energy dance group now and Aika would have never been able to do it with her brittle bones snapping every other day.

Not sure what they are going to do with her, probably hang on to her and use her for MCs till her contract runs out then throw her into M-Line? I mean she's a nice enough girl, never caused any trouble or stood out so I don't know how you can turn a piece of white bread into a soloist. You could always throw her in with some eggs, but then why kick her out of Morning Musume?

Oh and I feel bad for Reina and Sayumi because they now actually have to be leaders. I'm sure they were going to make Aika do all the work, but now they can't. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... R#>/8o.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8o' />

H!P Summer concerts better bring the next Morning Musume auditions.

Well, can't say we didn't see it coming. Sucks that it'll be added onto Risa's though. At least add an extra show or something to the tour/give her a special live a week or so after. What can she do besides become a variety idol? Even then, it's not like she was breaking down barriers in MM (though her teaching the new girls brought out a great side to her)

Though...

well Risa, you did say you wanted to graduate with AIka <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... R#>/8o.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8o' /> <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... imshot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rimshot:' />

Strangely, reading her message reminds me of a guy I used to know whose bones always snapped (usually breaking his foot too) but they said there was no abnormality they could find.

STFU haters, Aika was a darling. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/hmph.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hmph:' /> I guess at this stage indeed "nothing of value was lost" from the perspective of MM as a group, but that's not her fault. Seeing her attitude and interaction with other members in Paris really showed that she could have been a major asset to the group, if she was only allowed to shape its dynamics and image to a greater degree. And as for her contusion, shit just sucks.

Farewell grandma, I for one will miss you.

I dunno, I thought she sounded good in Kanashimi Twilight and Egao Yes Nude. And then something happened and she started singing with a different voice. Perhaps it was the influence of her time in Guardians 4.

I wouldn't say it was YEARS without a foot injury, I'm pretty sure she's been wearing shorter heels/flats for a while now. It's most obvious if you watch Shouganai Yume Oibito's dance shot, but she definitely started wearing shorter heels/flats earlier than that.

I was never an Aika fan, but it's really sad that she's finally leaving after battling injury for like a year and essentially losing in the end. I feel really bad for her.

Though I think I might feel worse for Gaki. I know she isn't tremendously popular, but she IS the longest running member in MM history! I think not giving her a solo send-off kind of diminishes respect for the history of the group in addition to respect for Gaki.

I'm kinda sad about this. I was waiting for her comeback. I bet her haters are having a field day with this news. I can't comprehend how she would have such an anti-fan base and people hating her so much. You would swear she had a part with 9/11 or the Holocaust or something with how much some of these people don't like her...

Word. The timing of this is really very poor. For one, I feel bad for Risa because she now has to share her graduation with a last minute throw in - it would have been different if they'd announced this at the same time as Risa, but then again that wouldn't have been much better because Aika still wouldn't have been able to really do all of the leading up to graduation promo stuff. They waited all of this time, why not just wait some more and have her graduate at the end of the summer con? This really should have been done ages ago, but I guess they just kept hoping she'd get better.

It is and it isn't. It's certainly not her fault that she got injured and seems to be kind of frail, and it's not her fault that she's hardly been in anything for months and people are forgetting she exists. That blog they gave her should have happened a lot earlier, but she's no Sayu when it comes to blogging. I do feel bad for her that she isn't even able to fully participate in her own graduation activities/last single. She doesn't even have a solo line in Renai Hunter.

What IS her fault starts here:
For me, disliking her started with the second she won the audition since better possible-members got shafted.
She was the lone winner of an audition that was filled with a lot of talent. It's not her fault that UFA didn't pick any other members, but as soon as she found out, she should have worked her ass off to be the star that she needed to be. As much as many of us hate Koharu, no one ever forgot about Koharu. She stood out, she got a lot of solo work, she attracted a lot of young fans to MM. Aika was quiet, reserved, in the background. She altered her singing and speaking voice (probably asked to by UFA, to be fair) so that it was pure saccharine which was not only grating, but didn't make her stand out from other idols. I do agree with you that her behind the scenes leadership of the group was very beneficial, and Sayu/Reina will have to step up a LOT to replace that. But in the end, she just didn't do enough in front of the camera to make me feel like she was overall worth it.

Finally, translations! I'm sure H!O has done it but I don't like going there. So I'll post all three announcements on B!P.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS.

Just echoing everyone else's sentiments, but damn that took a while to get rid of her. I don't remember enjoying her in anything she did. There really is almost nothing left in this group anymore, even from the times that I did even slightly enjoy them, only Reina is left, because there has never been a worse H!P member than Sayumi, so she doesn't count.

Aika was my least favorite member, but I really feel terrible about this.

Really hate the sudden way her graduation was handled. She deserves much better, after five years of loyal service.

In fairness, however, it looks like H!P did everything in their power to hold onto her. Hopefully she will do something productive within H!P after the graduation. I have to wonder what that will be, however.

Fuck every single bit of Aika hate. Why? She was completely inoffensive, so I can understand just being "meh" about her, but she didn't deserve one bit of the outright hatred she got.

And so what if she "never amounted to anything." People are forgetting how groups (or teams) work. A team can't be made up of all aces and star players. You need what are called "solid players," ones who never stand out, but consistently perform and help the group. You need the Kaoris, the Keis, the Konnos for the others to be able to do their thing.

Also, I don't think anyone even considers her role behind the scenes. Aika was very much one of the emotional cores of the group. When Linlin left and Ai was depressed, Aika was there for her and became her new BFF. When Eri left, she was there to support Sayu. Aika was also the one that brought about Reina's fairly recent attitude change whee she went from a total loner to an actual member of the group. Aika was the one that brought the tough love to show the new members the reality of their jobs, even when the older members were still doting on them. Just because Aika was never front and center on stage, she was still a damn important part of the group as a whole.

That could be right, in the videos before '09 it looks like she could possibly be wearing heels (albeit shorter-looking ones). I always assumed she didn't dance in heels because she had a foot problem from the start. She definitely stops wearing them around the start of '09.

This is a weird day, I'm agreeing with AP and AEUG on a lot of stuff. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> But yeah, that's a pretty ridiculous comparison. I do think Aika has value behind the scenes, but once again...not enough when you're the only member of your generation. I think that role would have been fine for her if she'd been in a generation of at least 2-3. Can you imagine how much more people would have hated Konno had she been the only member of her generation? Even Kei and Kaori I think worked better as part of a larger generation. The only girl to truly, 100% justify herself as a solo-addition is Maki.

And while I don't outright hate Aika (I'd call myself "meh") with her, MM just can't afford to have "meh" members anymore. They've gotten rid of a lot of popular members, gutted their vocal talent, and added a bunch of newbies who need time to grow. The newbs could use some more Aika tough-love, but the group as a whole could use more vocals to carry the singless and more known faces/personalities to help draw in people in the first place. Kaori and Kei were both good singers, and both had memorable personalities that baited the fans to the group so they could notice the newbies in the first place. Aika just never became that person, even before the injury.

Also: Translations.

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD.

So much potential in the 8th gen auditions and what did we get? One of the most useless members in the history of MM, though I guess I should thank Tsunku because AKB48 took what he didn't want. Anyways, YAY. Of course Risa's graduation has to be ruined because of this 'member', but oh well. I am so excited, she's finally leaving!

She is nowhere on a Kei/Kaori level, they (while still not super popular), brought something to the group. Bad vocals and constant injures does not make her even a good filler member. Heck, she's not even on a Koharu level because Koharu had a good personality and was pleasant to look at.

Today is the best day ever! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />
