Food Review Thread!

Post by Melon »

I'm bored and I think this thread existed (I hope it was this forum at least) and so here it is AGAIN! Post any odd or new foods and write a review~ simple simple! I tend to buy new foods all the time. If I don't like them I give them away. My favorite place to impulse food shop is the natural grocers store because they have all sorts of really interesting stuff and not the standard "new flavor of chips/candy" the regular stores have.

Anyway....

This is a new starburst that has a "flavor morph" as its gimmick. Being that I'm not a big fan of orange starburst, I almost put it down, but then my eyes scanned my true love - cherry lime.

Cherry Lime tastes like regular cherry starburst until several bites in a burst of "lime" comes through. The "lime" is nasty. I was hoping for a good lime because the lemon is my favorite starburst, but alas.

Orange Strawberry - It's a combination of my two least favorite starburst flavors. And I ate 2 of them and couldn't find the "strawberry morph". So maybe my tastebuds were busted from the awful lime or my dislike of orange shut off my tasting capabilities for my own safety.

I tried these awhile ago, I wasn't impressed at all.

I'm happy this thread exists and will try and remember it in the future.

I like lemon/lime tastes in candy.

This gum sucks. Artificial tasting flavors. And the worse sin? Zebra Stripes gum (well, maybe some of you remember that!) had a longer lasting flavor! I think it was gone after a minute of chewing.

This was a-ma-zing. Tasted like thin mint cookies. It's not very bitter, but it's also not very sweet. The mint tastes natural too, which is the biggest plus. Too many chocolate bars (even "premium" brands) have artificial tasting mint. Yes, there is a love poem inside, on the back of the main wrapper (the chocolate bar is wrapped in foil). They're nice classic poems, not the cheesy stuff written nowadays.

This was tasty too. The coffee bits are bitter and strong, but if you've ever eated chocolate covered espresso beans this is the same thing in chocolate bar form. I don't usually buy dark chocolate in a weak concentration like these but the rich chocolate flavor is there, just not the bitterness. There is no overpowering sweetness either, so it means I will be buying these again.

What a coincidence you bumped this thread;

Today I bought "honey waffles".

Eventhough they had massive amounts of sugar and kcal, they weren't really that sweet...

Chocolove chocolate, back when AKB48 had a subgroup called Chocolove, this chocolate was so lol worthy. Then that subgroup disappeared and so did my chocolate bar jokes.

They don't sell it around here much anymore, but when I find it again I'll have to try it.

Ladies and germs, boys and girls THIS STUFF IS THE SHIT.

I had the plain jane "blue" color, which is peppermint water. UNF IT IS SO GOOD. Will report back with other flavorings.

Is it mineralwater with taste ?

You can't tell from that add, it could be anything. lol

Fair trade chocolate is better than the Milka stuff. I started to love it way too much lately...

Ah! MetroMint is amazing! I always go for the green "mint" bottle. Not many things are more refreshing than that.

I believe so. I don't really get flavored water Seems like it is missing something, like carbonation...

Carbonated drinks feel like acid going down my throat :(

When I want flavored drinks, water or tea is where it's at.

So, I went and bought all the available flavors of metromint available to sample:

Blue - Peppermint Water - The first I tried, and I really like it. I also love peppermint, and the flavor is strong, so to some it may taste like liquid peppermint gum.

Red - Cherry Mint - It's sweet, and the cherry flavor is stronger than the mint. The mint is more of an aftertaste. The cherry is weird tasting, like it's natural and artificial flavors mixed together. I didn't really enjoy this one.

Yellow - Lemon Mint - First off, it smells like a household cleaner. The lemon taste and mint are well mixed, but the lemon... This may sound weird, but it tastes like they brewed it with the zest instead of using juice. I enjoyed it somewhat, probably something I have to crave to drink, wheras the others I want to drink everyday.

Green - Spearmint - This one is the best. A nice, pure mint flavor that feels refreshing with each sip.

Brown - Chocomint - what in the hell it tastes like real chocolate and mint. It's really weird sensation drinking this, but when I want something sweet I will turn to this because it has no sugar and no calories. :D

They didn't have orangemint or berrymint in stock, so I did not get to try those.

wut ?

I barely can drink non-carbonated stuff anymore. It feels so plain and boring.

I've never even really liked plain water.

Since I can't drink carbonated drinks anymore, I deal. I'll review my new Karma drink when I have time. It's all sorts of fun. Image

Ajinomoto's Frozen Gyudon.

Best $4.99 I have ever spent. It's frozen, so it isn't perfect, but it tastes almost exactly like the stuff I ate in Japan, which was one of my favorite dishes. I've tried to recreate it myself but it's difficult to find thinly-sliced beef like what's in gyuudon.
