Berryz 31st Single: Asian Celebration

I thought a thread for this single was worth making as [url="http:/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjKHKVw93z4"]a concert rip of the full song[/url] has been floating around. (If I'm wrong for this, please forgive me!)



Though the rip completely hides the beat of the song, I have to say that I'm loving what I'm hearing. The girls sound really rough though - maybe due to lack of practice with the song?

Also, this song kinda sounds like shit and the dance is really lame and awkward looking, as this is the first I've heard/seen it. Oh well, at least WANT was pretty awesome. They'll probably bounce back next single like they usually do when they release poop.

Well, now I know how I'd look doing a dance cover, and I want Yoko's haircut. I'm still not a huge fan of the song, but YAY Berryz were on TV for something! Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention to them recently, but it seems like they don't do many shows anymore.

I'm gonna bet that this is a Hirata arranged single.



The repeated chorus lines sound like

I only understood about 5% of what was going on in that video*, so yeah ... no clue.

Anyway, its good that Berryz got to be on tv.





By 5% I mean I recognized a few of the words they said, and tried reading the Hiragana on the screen for practice. (Not even attempting to read the kanji)

I was all "Ok, everything looks good" until I got to Miyabi, and was like WTF! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> Maybe that's the price we have to pay to get a normal looking Momoko. Momoko actually looks sort of good here. Hopefully she's growing out of "Momochii"; probably not, but I can wish can't I?

My only camplaint is Yuri and Chinami's heels. Chinami can maybe get away with short heels, but Yuri doesn't need them. I know they're for stly not to make them taller, but I think they should try to make them all around an even height.

I actually like Miyabi's hair! Risako's color though <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' />, it's like she's greying and isn't very good at all.





The song is strange sounding and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I need to hear CD quality to really judge it.

The singing style for this one is different in an odd way, but I like it. I think it sounds very interesting and funky.

I love Risako no matter what the hair color. <3 And she said recently on her blog that even though she changes her hair color a lot she ONLY bleaches the roots, so at least she's not bleaching the shit out of her hair constantly.



I still am not a fan of this song though and it makes me so sad. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' /> WANT! was amazing and perfect but this is...ugh.



Also, I noticed in CCS that Yurina's heels were a little shorter...hopefully that's at least the case here. But I know what you mean, in the WANT! PV the height difference was distracting.

Its just my opinion that the taller girls shouldn't have heels at all. It should be for the shorter ones, just to even out height issues since tiny Momoko always gets put by giant Yuri. I love Yuri so much, but she's too damn tall compared to the others.



I'm working on wallpapers for this single (I usually make wallpapers for all their singles) and the hardest girls to edit are Myabi and Momoko because of their hair. I thought Saki's would be the hardest to cut out, but her's was actually pretty easy. The little whispy parts on Momoko's ponytail were impossible to cut out so I edited her hair to look like a really big bun on top of her head. (It sounds weird but, it actually looks pretty good.) Oh, and Maasa fans can rejoice because I put her front and center in one version.



EDIT: As I'm making these, I keep seeing what I believe is an M on their necklaces. If it is, anybody know what it could mean?

Yurina's heels aren't as tall as everyone else's. Even without them, she'd still tower over Captain and Momoko.

The chorus already had me hooked, but the full song is also really good. The electronic talking parts remind me of HELP ME!!, which begs the question as to if S/mileage's next song will have talking.

Much better. Clearly this song doesn't work well live. If the MV gets the same treatment as Morning Musume's last, it might be pretty awesome. But if it just gets the standard treatment, I fear it becoming very disappointing.

I still think it sounds terrible. Better than the live, but a hot mess nonetheless. When Risako and Miyabi do the squeak thing during the line it sounds way higher of a note than when anyone else does it which throws me off. The verses and the chorus don't really flow at all. The verses are trying to be all funky and weird but the chorus is completely generic. And then we have the random over processed break down in the middle that doesn't fit with either. The talking bothers me too. I guess because it doesn't really seem necessary? The dialogue in Help Me is almost like mini "acting", like Rika's Shabondama lines. This is just girls saying "Hey everyone, how are you? Welcome! Well let's get started." Yeah whatever, get on with the song.



Like Aeug said, they always bounce back from their bad singles with really good ones, so I'm looking forward to whatever's next.

I agree 100% TnB, and it really makes me sad. Hey, I even loved "Be Genki! ~Naseba Naru~" so I can't even remember the last Berryz single I was disappointed in...well over a year.

The dance is so boring and uninteresting. I think we're at a point where H!P just can't come up with much new anymore and most things have been done already.

I'd do it a little longer, but I love bob haircuts. I normally cycle between long and short because I try to donate my hair to locks of love and I'm just too lazy to get it cut more than once a year.



Also, I cannot get into this song. I keep thinking it will grow on me, but it won't. I hope the video is decent.
