What's the deal with Paris lately, seriously? What's the marketing strategy? I could understand if they felt like they could reach more foreign fans all at once by going to Europe where countries are closer together (as opposed to the US where everything is so spread apart and travel is expensive). But didn't a few of our European members say Paris isn't exactly the most convenient location to get to for other Europeans? Is there an especially large fanbase in Paris?

They might as well just go ahead and start subbing their videos in French.

Yeah, it's really pissing me off. I want to finally go to another European city before I go back to the States! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' /> I'm spending a lot of my vacation days going to H!P events rather than touring Europe. Maybe that's a bit sad. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> So they better pick a better city! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' />

Paris is the most spoiled city in terms of H!P overseas gatherings. Buono, MM TWICEEEE!, Kikka, Takahashi & Niigaki (raffled, but still), and now C-ute. Berryz is just left. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... smooch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='=3=' />

If you're going, I may consider going. I'm just not really a fan of C-ute. Isn't this also their first time overseas?

Unfortunately, in a way there is. France is probably the one Western country most open to manga and anime, and by extension to the rest of Japanese pop-culture. Wikipedia has a pretty good article on the background of this phenomenon. If I remember correctly, there used to be an official overseas H!P blog which was primarily translated to French, and only then to English.

And when you think about it in stereotypes, it does make sense. UK and Ireland have no culture other than watching football and getting pissed (except that Union Jack is for some bizarre reason considered the most fashionable pattern in some circles). Germany is too manly for J-pop. Everything east of Germany is full of drunk people and polar bears. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/geof.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geof:' /> Nordic countries are just IKEA showrooms, plus more polar bears. Mediterranean countries are bankrupt and/or ruled by Mafia.

This leaves you with France, the country of mouth-watering cuisine, full of beautiful clean buildings and well-cultured romantic people. At least until you descend to the station and try to ride the Metro/RER for the first time during the rush hours. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /lmfao.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lmfao:' />

Please excuse my bitter rant but I'm also tired of that location choice which from any practical point of view (cost, communication, language, etc.) really makes no sense at all. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

Do the girls get any input into this? Paris is probably super glamorous to them. I can't think of too many other places they'd think to go, other than maybe NY or LA, without being asked by a convention.

Paris sucks ,but i'm going anyway <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

There is a big Japan Fanbase in Paris /France.

Every book store sells manga and there are also a few Book Offs in Paris ,1 with HP stuff.

And UFA have now some contacts in Paris ,so easy for them to arrange things like this.

That weekend is also the Japan expo so i would not suprised that they were also go there for signing or some talking.

Oh... that Tsunku troll <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... >/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> he kept leading them on to make them think he was going to announce something horrible.

But congratulations to C-ute! Such exciting news for them.

Another good announcement for them would be them going to Hawaii, after Saki talking on Hello Station about how she wanted to go to Hawaii <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' />

ETA: You can see their reactions in this video slightly better here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_44Xe-2Jbo

Maybe Berryz supposed to focus on Asia, so they are sending C-ute as replacement.

So S/mileage will be in charge of Oceania I suppose, lol

This must have been a great day for them! I'm so happy they finally get to travel out of Asia for a show. And Budokan must have been an added bonus. It was also really funny how Chisa kept freaking out over a possible graduation when the Tsunku tunes started playing. xD

I've heard Germany and France are big places for weabooism, so I wouldn't be surprised if they went there next.

Meanwhile Indiana sits in the heart of nowhere hoping Chicago is on their list of someday possibilities. One day.

What's the matter with New York?

So far, only AKB48, Rika Ishikawa and Ai Kago have come here. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... #>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

And Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is due here in just over a week, although I really don't have much interest in her, esp. since I was unable to get a ticket.

Go get a globe, now trace your finger from Japan all the way across the pacific, all the way across American and THEN you will see what is wrong with New York.

Going to LA or Europe is fairly simple and so... Image

A lot more Japanese artists have been there since the ones you've mentioned. Sakurai Sho, L'arc en Ciel, Utada Hikaru... Also, you kind of already listed a lot. There are many, many other major cities all over the world that have never had any Japanese performers go there. Don't be spoiled, Madara. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

If it's any consolation, Golden Bomber is coming to Ishikawa <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

Great news for C-ute and as much as I want them to visit other cities, Japanese seemed to like Paris. Anyway, I wish H!P will hold a concert in Singapore one day. It's nearer to where I am and I can find my way much better. I do wonder how many wota are there in Singapore.

And UFP has subtitled the announcement.

I see people complaining about the subs for PVs, but I think this new trend is great. It really shows them reaching out to and acknowledging foreign fans.
