$11 for a pint of Budweiser is insanely expensive by my standards.

I don't know if that's normal for rock shows in LA or if they jack prices up for touring bands, but it's double what I would expect to pay at a comparable venue -- say, St Andrews Hall or State Theater -- in Detroit regardless of the act. It's also possible that the fact that since there was only one band the venue was just trying to make up for customers only being there for a short period of time. Had it been better beer, I wouldn't have minded so much.

Oh wow, that really is insane, especially for something of very disputable quality. And I thought the £5.50 at the London concert was bad, and there you even had a choice of Heineken and some local brews. I didn't have any because beer + being stuck under the stage for 3 hours is a bad idea even when you sweat buckets in the process, but I made a point to check the pricing after the gig.

Here's a heavy metal boy band (and I do mean boy--they're 12-13 years old!) from Brooklyn and I wonder if they'd make a good opening act for Babymetal or be up for some collaboration with them:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/04/arts/music/unlocking-the-truth-is-a-band-that-rocks-beyond-its-years.html?ref=todayspaper&_r=0

(The boys are fans of anime so I can't imagine they'd be opposed to the idea.)

I saw an article on those boys the other week. I hope their record deal goes well.

Canada doing it wrong

Apart from the wod blunder the show was apparently great and very well received. From what I'm reading the audience was even better than the LA one. Nice photo gallery here.

Is it just me or is BabyMetal about to open the world to the "J" music culture.

Most of the people I know in real life don't know about my love for Japan, but I am getting all kinds of feeds from people wanting me to check them out.

Its awesome that they are opening their eyes to a whole new world. I admit that BabyMetal is new to me as well but I love it so far.

I think it's just you.

Honestly, Baby Metal are doing well worldwide due to existing J-music fans and metal fans who honestly like the music. I don't see much cross-over appeal beyond that.

Fair enough. I just have friends that know nothing of anything outside of American/Western music and they keep bringing them up. For the podunk little town I live in it seems a little strange that they know of them.

Does anyone know if Cuca has auditioned for other groups besides MM?

I went to her Youtube page for the first time just now, and wow, she's been putting up what seems to be an average of one video per week for six years now. She's pretty raw, but her dedication can't be questioned. You'd think someone would giver her a shot.

If she has, I don't know that she's mentioned it. Where she lives and her family's financial situation makes it hard for her to get to auditions.

Interesting. That would also seem to rule out dance or voice lessons. Too bad. It looks like she truly loves it.

$135? AYFKM? Here's what you get for your 135 bucks:

The BABYMETAL VIP Experience includes:

-One General Admission Floor Ticket

-One Limited Edition, Autographed BABYMETAL Passport

-One Commemorative VIP Laminate

-Priority Entry Into The Venue

-Priority Merch Shopping

That's it. No backstage pass, no meet-and-greet w/ the band, no reserved area for the show, no drinks. Basically, an autographed passport and commemorative laminate. Oh, and first shot at spending even more money at the merch table. I suppose if they can fool enough people into paying for this "VIP Experience" then more power to 'em, but that's just fucking criminal.

This is today in New York, 7PM tonight. I hadn't thought of going, but seeing the Morning Musume in New York video kind of makes me want to go. But I gotta work tomorrow. This kind of high-energy show isn't appropriate for weeknight attendance.

Anyone here going?

I'm going to the London show this Saturday.

You should go Madara, what you'll see will blow everything you saw from Hello! Project out of the water. It's okay if you rather skip the moshpit, it's optional. I'm not sure if it's sold out or not there, but even getting a general ticket form a scalper would be worth it.

There's a 7PM show and a 9:30 PM show tonight. Aren't these girls too young to be performing that late?

It's possible that Moa and Yui will only perform for the first 30 minutes and that Su will finish it up without them.

Eh, I'm pretty sure there is only one Babymetal show tonight. I don't know where those times are from. And I don't remember what time exactly they started last time in London, but they finished well after 9PM. There would be riots if Yui and Moa didn't stay for the whole show.

Enjoying the front row view and hearing a new song made it worth spending another day of my life in the line for Babymetal. =3=

Also, 2015 UK shows are basically confirmed.

I'd be pissed if I had to buy a ticket for a huge event like that just to see Baby Metal. Other than Judas Priest, BM is the only band listed that I'd have any interest in.

But Ohio, man. Wow. If they can make it there...
