Shiina Ringo released two albums last year

Post by JPope »

The first was released in the summer, and is a sort of self-cover album. Not songs she released previously, but songs she wrote for other artists, including Puffy, Tokio and SMAP. It's called Gyakuyunyū: Kōwankyoku, and it's really good. She's a woefully underrated composer.

She also released a collection of her singles released since 2009, which includes three new songs. It's called Hi Izuru Tokoro and is likewise very good.

The standout of the two albums is clearly Gyakuyunyū: Kōwankyoku, though, as it almost feels like a lost album.

She also seems to have a new single dropping in a few days, "Shijou no Jinsei," which will be the theme song for some drama named "..Tsuma."

Few things would excite me more than Shiina Ringo making a proper return to the music business. I wonder if there is enough interest in her anymore to make it worth her time, though.
