Yeah, it was announced at the concert in Osaka today.

Disappointed it's 2 months away :/

The first outfits look really lame, but in the 2nd ones they are all styled very nicely (in terms of hair and makeup)!

I know now, Akane reminds me of Johnny's Yamapi, arguably good look but dead-fish eyes (and bor~ing).
Maria is oozing with sexiness.
Mizuki is in the outer left position (reserved for the second least popular member, outer right is for the least popular) instead of Masaki? I guess this single is experimenting with positions.

There are some girls in the second picture who are sexy in the cool sense, but none of them are 12th gen.

 

Also, I think you're way over thinking their positioning.  I mean, here's their profile picture from 9th gen.'s debut song.

More or less "Youth youngster is crying / Twilight after the rain / From here and now".  The second song should be Ameagari (and the first one should be Kozou but that's more of a personal preference).

The first outfits are kind of amazing in both their blandness and their complete lack of trendiness.  Second outfits aren't trendy, but at least they aren't bland (super cheap looking, though).  Really excited to see what these songs sound like, though.  The first single after a graduation or a new generation is always interesting.

I actually kind of like the first outfits! Also it's always nice to see Kanon not in the back corner for once, though when she's not it takes me a moment to find her.

I personally like both outfits. The blue/white ones are simple in a nice way. A little weird with the tunic thing going on, but eh, not a dealbreaker for me. I love what they did with the hair for them! I like the grey ones a lot more, yep, and I love what they did with Akane. Looks pretty fierce. Maria's bangs look quite nice there, too. (Though she's got charm, I don't see her exuding anything other than just a simple sort of cute charm. I don't find her that much of a looker at all.) I absolutely despise Sakura's hair in the grey outfits, but there's always someone who gets saddled with the horrid hair. I love Daishi's bow.

I wonder which song the music video director winner is going to do? I'm thinking Yuugure wa Amaegari, only because the outfits look less dance inspired. The silver outfits look more for disco style laser beam dancing.

Pretty much. The only realistic competition for them was back in January, and even then they'd have to get lucky and just barely squeak by to get #1.
 
It's still early, though, so there's plenty of time for other big artists to announce for April. Although, they obviously won't have to contend with any 48-ers. The one downside I see to this though, is that the PreCure soundtrack comes out the same week as the movie. So unless the version on the MM single is significantly different or the song isn't on the soundtrack at all (which I doubt), or they manage to convert some little girls into fans, there'll be no reason for them to buy this single for that song as they've had an entire month's chance to get the soundtrack.
 
Anyway, MM are going to perform on Sky Perfect TV Ongakusai on February 25. It will be a 5 hours show and will be broadcasted in 4K. They might perform one of the new songs, which is why I mentioned it here, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. They'll probably do everyone's favorite song, TIKI BUN, again and save this for their spring concert lol

They could have tried for 3/25 if they hadn't taken so long to announce -- Kisumai announced their single yesterday. Though Kisumai would probably win anyway with their 11 versions and being a Johnny's group.

I'm expecting Tiki Bun just because they've been over-performing it like crazy + they made 12th gen their own outfits so it's an easy go to.

Turns out they actually are doing 123 lol. Plus Morning Coffee with some soloist whose name I don't recognize. So no new single performance just yet.
