I thought Roman was a lot more popular, and Kimagure Princess a lot less popular. My gut instinct was to seed Roman around 10th or so, but I remember people going ape-shit crazy for it for years after it came out. 
 
Two 1 seeds are currently losing, and one looks like it's definitely gonna lose. Crazy!

Yes I love Roman but I think Shabondama is just a lot more legendary.

I had such a hard time choosing between Roman and Shabondama. They are both extremy high in my MM song ranking. I ultimately gave it to Shabondama because of 6th gen.

Personally I loved Kimagure. Mostly because it was an Eri lead and she was my platinum era girl.

Eri is my all time favorite idol and I really do wish she got to shine more..
Koi no Hustle was her lead song too even if it didn't make A-side.
 
A shit song is a shit song, imho.
She deserved better.

They're both mediocre in my opinion. In the end I voted for IIII JANAI.

It was the thoughest choice I had to do because both are agreat but in a very different way, in my opinion. Kimagure Princess was the single which introduced me to MM (but then I heard about Koha's grad so I didn't keep up with MM releases) and that I listened in loop between Koha's grad and Renai Hunter. On the other hand, Shouganai Yume Oibito is a great song, with a good MV, vocals, outfits, dance to me so it was definitely a hard choice.

I also tend to prefer a bit Aishite Aishite Ato Ippun to 3,2,1 Breaking Out.

I just don't like ballads and Kimagure was like everything I loved.  The only way it could have been improved (for me) is if they actually utilized JunJun and LinLin more.

Shouganai isn't bad . . . Its just boring. Kimagure Princes has always ranked way higher than it for me.

Shouganai is one of my favorite Platinum era songs. And I'd say it's my favorite era too.
 
In the second half of the Nanchatte Renai video where they do close ups in black and white and air blowing at them, it felt very J-pop and diva to me. 
That's what Shouganai as a song feels like to me.
 
Kimagure Princess is okay, totally not sophisticated, I wouldn't share it with my friends unless it was a look, a weird Japan moment.

I'm closing now, as it has just now been 3 days. The fact that Shouganai came back to win is just a bonus.
 
I actually made updated brackets last night with Kimagure Princess as the winner. I have to fix that now.

Whaaaat. Shouganai is the song that finally got me into MM, after years of thinking J-idols and their music was way too weird. Now I've warmed to the hyper, bubbly idol songs, but without Shouganai I wouldn't even be here, man.
