I know it's not supposed to be easy at this point, but got-dam, lol. I still haven't voted, but it's down to two songs. Hopefully I can decide by Wednesday!

When I saw the finalists, my firs thought was that none of these would have made my top 5.

But then I rewatched Shabondama and man, that song is actually iconic and even two decades later I still absolutely love their rolling Rs and having them sing deep, not high pitched.
Plus, it might have the best MoMusu opening of any single.

Then I watched I Wish and it was a mix between shivers down my spine, wondering if I was about to cry and thinking "this is too cheesy". lol
It might be the best MoMusu MV though!

3, 2, 1 was great, but I don't see it as a top dog.

So yeah, my vote went to Shabondama. I forgot just how great it is.

It's been a pretty consistent vote of 9 people voting for a while. I got the 9 votes, I cut it off. But there was no need to worry. Utakata was ahead by 2 or 3 I believe.

I’m sad because I WISH is one of my most beloved songs, but I can respect Utakata getting #1! It’s catchy as all get.

"Fantasy ga Hajimaru" and "Wake Up Call" both making the finals kind of surprised me. I like both songs, but yeah. The craziest thing, though, is how the top song -- and two of the top four -- were not written by Tsunku.

I guess we can't deny that MM still has some bangers every now and then, and whatever Up Front wants Tsunku to write for them is not exactly what the fans like (nowadays). I remember that Utakata was praised as being "Tsunku-esque disco" (in line with Romance no Tochuu, for example).

Wake up call also surprised me, but I do enjoy it. Fantasy ga Hajimaru goes hard live, and it always gave one person that didn't get to sing much a focus (Sayumi, Maria) - and said person was/is an audience favourite. Top 5 is indeed surprising, but not so much as Wake up call imo.

My favorite MM songs have been their album tracks going back to Thank you, too, which leads me to believe that UF gives Tsunku more creative leeway with long-players. Normally this would be MM's New Album year, and I wonder if last year's Best Selection collection will push that back or not?
