MV for Pride Bright.
MV is pretty damn good, the song is nice, but once again not really catchy.

I dig it. The synths and key changes give it a late-90s /early-2000s Jpop vibe, which is catnip for me. The video looks fantastic, although I wonder how much of that is just the incredible styling of the girls?

http://www.helloproject.com/release/detail/HKCN-50766/ - Covers are out, 2nd A-side is a cover, FUNKY FLUSHIN'. The original is from 1979, sung by Yamashita Tatsuro
They also performed it as well today, during their performance at Nakano Sun Plaza (which is closing down for redevelopment).

Funky Flushin' original. Another city pop banger for Juice.
I take it. Covers are also decent.

I dig the song. Ideally I'd like for J=J's version to have a harder edge than the original, but I wonder if the suits would let them have two upbeat bangers on one single? Then again, just losing the tsunami of reverb will tighten it up and make it feel a bit harder.

FUNKY FLUSHIN' MV:
It's like if Ocha's summer MV had a budget.
Nothing too special, but nice to look at. I like the song, but I don't know if I'm going to listen to it that often.

LOL! I started a reply and it turned into a full-on blog post, so before I tweak it for publication, I'll give the tl;dr here. Like it, don't love it. Definitely the lesser of J=J's City Pop covers, but as a pairing with a burner like "Pride Bright" it's just fine, and I'm actually cool with them going with a softer vibe despite my earlier comments. Pushing the Latin percussion elements up in the mix was a great decision. I'm not a fan of that extended ending that never resolves, but that's in the original, too. Then again, they smartly trimmed a lot of fat from the original, so I'm not sure why they didn't do that on the ending, as well. Eba-chan is quickly moving up the ranks in J=J, which she's earned. She's about as close to a lead on this as there is, and she's been standing out in the recent live performances I've seen. Of the last three gens, I think Ebata is the one who is likely to rise to the level of Juice's "Avengers" legacy. [EDIT - Uh, forgot that Mifu is part of the last three gens, so like, never mind )
Yeah, it seems like simple videos that look great has become J=J's specialty.
