I went and grabbed Crash Bandicoot 2 on PSN yesterday night. I'm upset it didn't have analog support. I'm so used to my joysticks <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... ryalot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cryalot:' /> I like it and it's still kind of challenging. Still got a ways to go.

Question: Did anyone here try DJ Hero 2? AMazon's got a good deal and I was considering getting DJH2+Turntable and the first game. Watching gameplay videos online has piqued my interest, but I'm still a little wary...

I just found out about this amazing trailer for a russian Oblivion-mod:

This looks better and more interesting than Skyrim. Especially less casualized.

YeahYeah! First of two posts comin at cha! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... kumad1.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':umad:' /> sheen,sparkle,sparkle

So, I picked up two games yesterday. I have to say that Metal Gear Solid 4 is such a surprise. I truly didn't know too much about how the game unfolded short of the beginning and very end, so everything was a nice discovery. I'm 11 hours in and a little bit into Act 4. It's just so deep and satisfying in a way sequels many times aren't. The flashbacks are implemented well and the audience winks are cute and noticeable without being distracting.

I also, on a whim, grabbed Red Faction: Guerrilla. I've played the first one, so I had a vision of GoldenEye meets Play-Doh, but ended up with Mercenaries 2 meets Just Cause 3: The Space-Reckoning. Not bad, but I was expecting a first-person shooter, not so much a third-person adventure. I don't understand all of the narrative canon, but I'm clever enough to go "it's Space-Saboteur, okay? Nazis are now Space-Nazis and the resistance is now the resistance."

My shipment of DJ Hero 1 and 2 should be arriving in the next few days <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... nceman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':danceman:' />

Team Fortress 2 is no free to play on Steam.

I played it some two hours today to check it out. I always had a negative feeling about the graphical style about it, since I played the original TF for quite a few hours, which had a rather realistic style.

But I have to say VALVe really made a good and fun to play successor. However, don't expect any innovations.

EDIT:

Thought about making a new post for this shit, but had then came to realize it would be a waste of Bits to make a new post...

NEW POST, because it is something very different and not "just an update" at all.

I played DKC Returns with my flatmate and boy did we have fun. Holy shit is this game awesome and challenging at the same time.

If you have ANYBODY that likes platforming/2D-gaming, you owe it to yourself to show him (or he, YOU WEIRDO) this game.

It is probably the perfect blend between challenging and fun. I certainly haven't seen such a perfect mixture of these wonderful things in a long time.

DJ Hero 1 and 2 finally came in! DH2 was my first foray (since it arrived first) and I've really just enjoyed it. Almost unabashedly. I can think of one or two mixes I didn't particularly like, but I can't remember which ones. All of the mixes are full length and they just work really well. Good combinations of songs and fantastic manipulation.

DH1...not so much. I got it today (on my lunch break :P) and explored it for a little while. I'm finding the mixes a little cheaper, shorter, and just not as satisfying. The menu is kind of tough (the DH2 interface doesn't require you to use the semi-hidden controller buttons) and the game screen is just lacking the same luster and style of the second game. Still, I'm not as far in as I am with the second, so who knows?

Again, I can't stress how awesome Trenched is. If you've got a 360, you should really check it out. ShinUkyo and I spent all night Friday playing it and I spent this afternoon playing with other friends.

There are hundreds of good games on Steam. lol

It depends on what games you like to play. There are hard and easy games with interesting stories.

I would suggest you just watch the daily deals and look up reviews of those games. If a game you're interested in does not get a daily deal, you can still buy it at the end (june 10th). ;)

From the current daily deals Witcher 2 (though I'm sure you can get it cheaper from amazon or some retailer), BTTF (it's a point and click adventure) and Oblivion (if you like questing and exploring) might fall into the category of games that you like.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is coming out in August and it's probably going to feature an interesting story and characters. I've got the special edition pre-ordered.

The problem with Steam is that games I care about (eg. The Witcher) I definitely want as a box version, and games I don't care about I'm not eager to pay for. Unless it's in the under €5 category, but under €2 would be more appropriate.

Maybe I'll grab HL1 and the Orange Box finally though, hah.

Yeah, I also have this "since it's only a digital download, it's worth a lot less", eventhough the product itself is 90% digital if you buy it in a box/retail. The only game I ever bought via Steam that was full-priced was BioShock, because you could play it ~2 days prior to release and it that was about 4 years ago, when I haven't had much experience with Steam and didn't import games yet. Funny thing is, that changed right around the same time though.

But yeah, since then all of the games I bought on Steam were <20€, aka during special sales. A few months ago I calculated how much I payed per game on an average and it was somewhere between 5 and 7€. I should do this again.

I only pre-ordered the special edition of DX:HR because it just was at a low price considering the content; 40€ for the game in a special packaging with the Soundtrack, an artbook and some retarded in-game shit.

Alpha Protocoll

The two DLCs for New Vegas

X3: Terran Conflict

F1 2010

Gifted Deus Ex, got Terraria gifted.

I also just bought the Cthulhu/Breath indie RPG pack that's on sale for <2€.

I had 22 tickets and didn't win ! <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... dammit.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dammit:' />

Finished the Back To The Future Adventure by Telltale and it was enjoyable.

If you like (or even love, as I do) the movie trilogy, you should play this.

The ending (really only read this if you've decided to play it)was ingenious, though not what you might expect.

The dialogues were not as funny as the ones in Tales of Monkey Island however, but I guess it's easier to make funny (and unrealistic) characters in a fantasy setting with pirates and magic, than in one that is just a bit Sci-Fi.

It took me about 12h to finish the season, so buying it full price for 25€ is imho not a good deal.

But if you see it for <15€, then go ahead and buy it if you want new stories of Marty and Doc Brown !

If you like(d) the old jRPGs like Lufia or FF1-6, you have to play The Drunken Paladin. It got some hilarious dialogue and characters. The battle system and maps are also very well done.

Oh and it's free, since it's a RPG Maker game.

Also got into King's Bounty again today.

Haven't had much time to play the other stuff I got from the Steam summer sale besides the Cthulhu/Breath of Death pack, which was also very entertaining.

And I'm anxiously awaiting the second coming of Xenu the release of Deus Ex - Human Revolution. Got the Augmented Edition pre-ordered.

In case anybody is interested, I am taking part in a live-stream, 64-hour long gaming marathon consisting entirely of Nintendo 64 games for charity. Click the spoiler tag to learn more:

Starting on August 18th at 6 PM EST, my friends and I will be playing a handful of Nintendo 64 games nonstop for 64 hours for mycharity: water, located here.

We will be streaming all the action here, and if you'd like to donate to our cause, please visit this link.

Here's our blog where you can find more information, including a list of games we will be playing (subject to change): http://n64athon.blogspot.com/ and you can follow us on twitter: @N64athon.

So yeah, if you guys feel the urge, you can check out the stream starting Thursday at 6 PM EST through 10 AM EST on Sunday to watch us play some classic Nintendo 64 games, and if you'd like, feel free to donate!

We plan to have two screens show up at once so we can race each other in some games. I know I'm slotted to race my friend to finish Mario 64 (70 Stars, beat final Bowser, no cheats, glitches, etc.) sometime Friday evening, and I plan to showcase my excellent Star Fox 64 skills at some point as well.

For more on-topic-ness, my friends convinced me to start playing League of Legends and I can't stop. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hatthe.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whatthe:' />

Bought Jamestown yesterday when it was a Steam Daily Sale.

If you like Shmups, you'll probably like this one too. It has some pretty tough bonus levels and there are 6 difficulty settings for the campaign mode, so there's something for the noobs and for the pros.

Still can't wait for my DX:HR augmented edition next week !! Especially now that it has a 9/10 on gamerankings.com.

I also decided to check if my PC could handle PCSX2 now (last time was about 5 years ago, before my last upgrade), and lo and behold, it flies though it at 50 or 60 fps of your choice. You know there was a Edgeworth game that was released in Japan recently? Capcom is not going to bring over to the US because they say it wouldn't be worth spending the money to localize. This really pisses me off and finalizes my disdain for Capcom. They are making so many poor decisions in the last few years. Yes, obviously Street Fighter IV needs 25 versions because people will throw their money at it no matter what, but god forbid they lose a little money on a handheld game. They are systematically destroying gamers' goodwill.

It is quite sad, but I don't think it's unreasonable for a company to focus on what makes money. Capcom has taken risks in the past and they deserve a little credit for that.
