I think there's more vocal potential in 10th gen than 9th gen, Haruna aside. One of them would be a better choice to bridge that talent gap. And in the end no one in 9th or 10th is ever able to do that, I'm sure Reina would have no problem singing nearly all of every song until she goes.



As for ReinaRihoRoboSayu, that's probably exactly what we'll get. The other likely option seems to bring someone from 10th gen to be a main singer and I honestly don't know who they'd chose. It was obvious they were going to choose Riho because she was the wota-favorite, but 10th gen is less specific. Probably Ayumi or Haruka, but who knows. Masaki's got potential but right now I don't think she picks things up quickly enough for them to put her at the forefront. Or who knows, maybe they'll give Mizuki more lines. If not someone in 10th gen, she seems the most likely candidate.

Is Masaki emerging as a fan favorite? Because I know she's cute and people here like her, but she probably won't get any lines unless the wota like her too, right? Or unless they're trying to give her a push like they did with Aika (even though she never caught on anyway). I thought Haruka was the fan favorite, so I'm hoping she gets more lines. If anything, she's the most badass musume since Yuko.

The decision to make the instrumental break just a synth brass interpretation of the chorus line is the most disappointing thing to happen with Morning Musume since Mitsui's recovery. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /noway.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':noway:' />



Kidding, but considering how cool the song is supposed to be, and their experimentation in the beginning, that's really all they could do? It sounded so indifferent.



That aside, the song is pretty cool and I like the style of the covers, I approve of the shiny, spacey, GO GIRL! Koi no Victory outfits. I think they could have given Risa a better solo cover pic. It's a zero effort close up with big hair. Her image in version C would have made a cooler shot.



This would have been a great single to reintroduce photocard limited edition bonuses. Too bad UFA doesn't throw amazing goodies into CDs now. That's kind of what kept me in the habit of preordering their stuff as soon as possible. Also, having carefree days with disposable income didn't hurt either.

My understanding is that Haruka's the fan favorite by a mile. I think she's by far the most talented all-around performer in 10th gen (dance, voice, and personality). I'd be shocked if they didn't make her a front person at some point. Her only problem now is that she looks eight years old, and that may create some image problems for the group.



My guess is that Renai Hunter's b-side will be a genki song with 10th gen getting some lines, and we'll hear a lot of Haruka there.

It was awhile back, but Masaki actually came pretty close in a poll 2ch did during the auditions.



But I think Ayumi is a pretty good all-rounder too. She doesn't sing as well, but there's potential. And she can definitely dance and is very outgoing.

I see Ayumi as Riho's shadow, like Eri was to Reina or Risa to Takahashi. Haruna is photobook fodder and eye candy that can hold a semi-note and Masaki will continue to be the dark horse until she gets a clue. Zukki is in the shadows training to become dark overload of the flies and Eripon will follow in Sayumi's footsteps unless she can hit a note worth hitting.



I can't seem to understand all the Mizuki love. I don't think she has a very good voice at all.



Haruka got prime photo op with the two main girls, you know she's in the top tier. Though I can see UFA holding her back slightly because she's still young and puberty is a bitch.

Y'all must be wearing blinders when it comes to Masaki. That girl keeps making EXPONENTIAL progress. Every time she pops up she's way ahead of her last appearance. Mark my words, she WILL be a front girl within a year.

Mizuki isn't an amazing singer, but she's got the most bearable live voice out of everyone in 9th gen and right now I feel she's the most consistent at giving a decent performance. Zukki could overthrow her with some work. She still shouts a lot, but she never fails to impress when they throw those high notes at her.



I haven't paid much attention to Ayumi's dancing, but I think she'll probably be a stronger singer than Riho is given time. And I guess that does make her the Eri or Risa since quite a few fans thought they were better than their counterparts too.

Well, I agree. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' /> Once she gets it, she definitely gets it, but she takes awhile to get there. Which is why I think they'll keep her on the back burner for now. I mean, she almost got her and Eripon pulled from a performance in the concert. She got it together in the end, but I don't think UFA is looking for someone who pulls through at the last moment. I think they'd rather have someone who has it down a few days before that.



But her progress doesn't guarantee her front girl status. She could be the most amazing girl to ever join and there's still a chance UFA wouldn't make her a front girl.

I'm sure they'll all bloom into amazing idols though. They all really do have potential. Morning Musume is for growth not for professionals. Even though Mizuki and Haruka kinda should be pros after being in eggs, which is why I dislike how lackluster Muzuki is.

I mostly like Ayumi for her personality. I think she also stands out looks-wise. Whether in a good or bad way depends on the person, I suppose. But I like her look.

Song is better as a radio rip haha, it really just isn't as powerful as the live was but that's expected. Covers are alright, Haruna looks gorgeous on them. That girl needs a photobook she is too pretty not to.

I think you nailed it. The main thrill of being a Momusu fan these days is seeing how 9th and 10th (and possibly 11th) generation develop.



Problem is, a person became a fan during the Ai-chan era is probably used to seeing seasoned idols strut their stuff (5th and especially 6th gen were hitting their peak back then). So it's kind of jarring to see all these kids around who have trouble holding a note. It's easy to dismiss them as lacking talent or personality or whatever.



Hopefully, the younger members will bring in new fans. But they will need to be promoted. Maybe that will start with single no. 50, because I don't see that happening right now, especially with 10th gen.

Most people actually aren't concerned about a lack of talent. That's mostly unique to this board, from my experience. Everywhere else I've been, people have been pretty impressed and pleased with 9th and 10th gen.



I don't think anyone who is a fan of Takahashi would dismiss any of the new girls as boring, though. But while I liked her voice, I was never much of a fan, so I will. <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /frown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':frown:' />

Music Japan recording 4/2 which means it will likely air 4/8 or 4/15.



And they're going to record some J-MELO Spring Special where they'll perform three songs. One will be Renai Hunter.



B-side has a title as well. It's called Watashi ga Ite, Kimi ga Iru.

Time for the annual 'What Tsunku Says about the Single and the Members' Post. Sohee over at jplop translated:



- This song is more characteristic than "Pyocopyoco ultra".

- The most important thing with this song is that Niigaki's coolness is shown.

- The dance is cool and difficult in a way that early~middle MM wasn't able to do, but because of the various groups and the strong competition these days it has to be this way.

- The lyrics are for the people of Japan.

- The bass is quite detailed and the key is quite low.

- The dance during the instrumental is of a kind that hasn't happened before.



- Niigaki was more pumped for this single as usual, as to be expected.

- Michishige and Tanaka are both looking out for their juniors a lot and while both of them say they're not that good at dancing, both of them are improving a lot lately.

- Mitsui can't do the dance for this yet, but she's participating in every other way.

- Fukumura says she can't quite smile so that it reaches the fans, and so she's working really hard at her expressions and such.

- Ikuta is a presence that makes everyone relax. She has a smile like a cat and there's a lot of originality to the way she moves.

- Sayashi has improved amazingly much vocally in just half a year, if she keeps it up she'll grow even more.

- Suzuki has improved a lot at dancing. She also has a outgoing personality so she's the one who leads 9th gen.

- Iikubo while being the older is really pure, she's really a hard-worker.

- Ishida deals properly both with school and work, but her expressions are - in a good way - kind of impertinent, so she's coming out of her 'perfect student'-shell.

- Satou has her alien-moment, but while not like Iida Kaori she can also be really mature, so she's a bit of an "adult-child-alien". She's improving a lot in both singing and dancing, so I really look forward to see where she'll be going from now.

- Kudou had quite a lot of colds when recording this. Though her big eyes leaves quite an impression and her voice is not what one expects, so I look forward to see how she'll be growing.

- The coupling is an energetic song in which 10th gen struggled with singing with their own feel to it. It'll surely be a good concert song.

- Risa herself loves "Egao ni namida ~THANK YOU MY DEAR FRIENDS~" and while it's not a Morning Musume song, she listened to this one a lot when she had just joined the group.

I see what Tsunku says and reinterpret it into what I think he really meant.



- I was drunk when I wrote "Pyocopyoco ultra ", after a quick stop in detox I wrote this.

- Niigaki threatened to stab me with a fork and feed my children to Ayumi Hamasaki if I even dared to try and pull what I did with Kaori when she graduated.

- I'm going to make them dance like puppets and work themselves to death because I can't seem to make a decent enough song anymore. Maybe no one will notice?

- Screw you foreign fans, this is Japanese music!

- I discovered something called dubstep, it's fun!

- Dance my puppets, DANCE!!! MWAHAHA!



- Niigaki has one last chance to show what she's got because next month she'll be off in the real world begging for a spot in the next run of Dream Musume with Takahashi.

- Michishige and Tanaka realize that even though they now run the place, their faults are now magnified by 20 and they actually need to work again. Reina thinks, work, what is that?

- Mitsui has mastered the arm flail like a boss.

- Fukumura still can't seem to get over the faces of 1,000 men staring at her. Someone get her some porn or something.

- Ikuta got laid. By who? Only the cat knows.

- Sayashi still has a long way to go to fill all the shoes that got left behind. Needs more vocal practice.

- Suzuki knows she's not getting any lines so she's going to fight her way to the top by being the most vocal.

- Iikubo... she knows she's just a pretty face that's going to be making the photobooks but then is informed to get the photobooks you actually need to do stuff like dance and sing.

- Ishida realizes she's the best, but you also need to have a personality if you want to be in the top tier. Too bad she was given a bunch of Kei videos to study with.

- Satou is the dark horse from planet WTF. Her parents Kaori and Eri conceived her by reenacting the DragonballZ fusion dance. They failed miserably, but she still got in.

- Kudou is going through the change. It's a very rocking road.



-The c/w song is actually better then the single. But because mangement wouldn't let me get my way again I had to make it the c/w. The new girls really had a hard time with it, but I think they managed it pretty well.

-Risa thinks all the Morning Musume songs suck, she has to resort to pulling from an old Aya Matsuura song.

I'm with Anderei, I find Riho pretty boring tbh as well. Her voice has been surprising lately, and the Winter promos made her look like a real girl, but she still seems to lack the wow factor that Zukki and Eripon seem to have with silly senses of humour. Even Mizupon has a bit of a personality when she is with Erina. Unless you have some vid I can't think of where Riho has displayed much..

What I've discovered over the year as far as personality is concerned. 9th gen are better in pairs. Riho works off Kanon and Mizuki works off Erina.

Riho is a like a big ball of fluff around other members, but by herself she's just another Takahashi log.
