I know about the AKBs, I want the names of the other better idol groups.

Hm, I thought he meant Korean groups.
I think the only Kpop group he likes is A Pink.

Sakura Gakuin! Actually I have no idea if he likes them, but I do! I love their music. Image
Are they the group that had a PV with the older idols as school teachers and the like and the younger were students?
Uhm... er... that doesn't sound familiar. So I'm going to say no.

But I'll agree with Aeug, Passpo has amazing music.

Anyway, we totally went off topic and I'm going to uhm... try... wtf I have no idea what to do. Image Talk about Morning Musume or something.

It does not sound like K-pop. Case in point - when Berry played it amid the torturous stream of K-pop coming out of her laptop 24/7 it actually made me switch off my mental block and say "Hey this sounds GOOD" out loud. And I would never risk admitting anything K-pop sounded good out loud.

I don't care what it's inspired by or pretending to be. For me this is the first single in a long time that was an instant hit from the first time I heard it. The majority of replies in this thread seem to share the same impression.

The only foreign vibe I get from it is that Daft Punk song in a few parts. Anyone else hears it?

I saw an article which claimed a lot of famous bands "steal" music, green day, oasis, radiohead etc etc

and the evidence they presented was very compelling indeed.

but as someone who graduated from a music university the answer is rather simple and boring.

There are very few chords which sound good when played together, now after almost 100 years of recorded pop music the chances that anybody anywhere will be able to create a completely original song is rather rare.

It's a pop song, of course it's going to sound similar to something done before, hell when tsunku tried to do something completely original.... pyoko pyoko, we all hated it remember?

There are some people in this world being WAAAAYYYY over critical and thinking WAAAAAAYYY too much about what, in the end is in fact, just. a. pop. song.

As I said before, the main interest lies in the progress the girls have made and continue to make, which is why we can all be super critical of Reina, she has hardly improved in nearly 10 years! (and some would say she has in fact got worse!)

I'm with aine.

I had only listened to the performance a few times when it was released, but the next day at work I was pretty much humming the entire thing in my head on repeat for nearly 8 hours. Line for line. NO Morning Musume, or almost any type of song for that matter, has done that to me so rapidly. This one is a total hit.

Now watch "The Matenrou Show" be total crap. Gotta have balance!!

I must say, I'm dreading the PV for this single.

As Rally said, you gotta have balance, and this song is just too good. I figure H!P will even things out by giving us a truly lackluster PV.

My prediction. But at least the dance and outfits are awesome to make up for it! Kinda like Lullaby Game which was an awesome song with an awesome dance, but really boring PV.

I won't complain about a bunch of dance shots as the PV as long as there are lots of flashy lights. I want some Heroine ni Narou ka up in this mother!

Ahm I don't know if we have mentioned this, but that performance video has been the #1 Youtube most watched video in Japan for like 4 days and it already has more than 500k views.

Here is a small group picture of them on Sony. I found this on Hello Online and thought people might like to see it.

I find it interesting how they ordered the girls this time. I'm not sure how much sense it makes.

The only ordering that doesn't make sense to me is that Sayu is all the way in the back.

Clearly, the back row is the new front row. Anyway, I find it kind of interesting how they are pushing the juukies for this single (except for Haruka - probably because she already has a big fanbase). I mean (except for Riho) the kyuukies just got one single where they were heavily featured and then were shoved into the back. Maybe it's because the juukies are less popular and they want to give them a chance to gain some fans before the 11th generation comes in.

But considering this is UFA, normally they'd just go ahead and push Haruka because it would be the easiest thing. It looks like they're going to keep going with Ayumi, probably because she's basically a much more outgoing Riho and they're probably hoping she clicks with fans. And I guess Haruna and Masaki are in the middle because they don't want to completely shove them in the background yet.

Placing them in a picture really doesn't mean much, though. It's how they're featured in the songs and MVs. And judging by One Two Three, none of the 10th gen are really getting a push right now.

Actually, it seems to me that lately they are more interested in pushing the less popular girls and trying to make them more popular. I've noticed it mostly in C-ute and Berryz, not really with MM, but maybe they are trying that now with them.

I don't even care about their positions. The only thing going through my head is why is Zukki's hair so fugly. I just want to take out the extra bows and make her wear a normal ponytail.

What the hell UFA. In that little screen cap of them shooting the album jacket (which was probably shot at the same time as this promo photo), everyone looked fantastic. Makeup was fantastic, faces were fantastic. Now all of a sudden everyone looks bad. The makeup makes their eyes look uneven. Haruka appears to have enormous lips while Mizuki has none. Lots of bored-face. Pictures are supposed to look better AFTER photoshop, not before. Whoever does photo selection must go out of their way to pick the most awkward facial expressions every time.

Mizuki's eyes actually are uneven, which is why she looks wonky. I have no excuse for anyone else, though.

Maybe it's just me, but I think Eripon looks fantastic with that hairstyle.

I don't mind seeing Ayumi at the front, but I think it's a bit unfair to Haruka, who's far more popular with the fans, and is a much better singer.

I do get the feeling that Riho and Ayumi are going to get marketed as a duo at some point. Probably makes sense.

Like I said, Ayumi is almost exactly like Riho. Especially talent-wise. Short, long hair always worn down, weaker voice, strong dancer. The shape of their faces is even kind of the same. Clones. They're hoping people will take to her.

I don't really think it's fair to Sayu to put her in the back like that. All this time after Ai had graduated she has been up front but now she's suddenly in the back row.

To be more positive I also really love Eripon's hair, I hope she has it for more than just one single.

So happy to see Riho and Ayumi at the front, those girls are really talented, seems like they are both working hard on the singing and they are already amazing dancers.

I must have watched them dancing on Black Variety a hundred times already, skillful, elegant cute and funny and they had a minute or so to arrange it!

It's just a picture, I'm sure she'll be fine. She has a lot of lines in the song anyways.

I still don't get all this Ayumi hype. She's not that great.

I do noticed they moved Zukki to the second row. In the promo shots from last week it looked like they were going to have her in the back row.

And yeah it doesn't matter where they stand. I never understood why it really mattered.

Well, the more important/popular you are, the better your position is. It's not random. Usually. And sometimes girls will temporarily be pushed to a better position than they "deserve." Like the Year of Reina. I hated her back then, so that was an irritating time for me.

And I love Erina's hair. I think she looks the best in that picture.

Apparently, Tsunku has tweeted that the MV will be up early next week.

Pretty fast turnaround, since they just shot it a few days ago.
