Anyway, Kikka has a new single coming out in July. She has a radio preview out and it's very electro-pop. (From Sayunii, The producer is known for his Vocaloid work.)
So don't expect a sweeping ballad or anything.
No set date yet, just July for right now.
This is a place where a signature goes. Enjoy some Airi instead.
There's still hope for an awesome b-side. One is a cover of Moritaka Chisato's 17sai (bonus! There's a Cuca version!). Interestingly enough, Moritaka was also 20 when she released that song. The other will be an original song called SmileR.
Is this the theme to some anime, or did they just make anime-Kikka for the RE for fun? It's cute, but I'm kind of disappointed that she's not actually on the cover. I might change my pre-order to Limited B instead and hope SmileR is good.
As for the PV... the backgrounds are really pretty, and they used some cool effects on her here and there without looking like "YAY FILTERS!!!" but just having her stand there and dance makes it so boring. It's just not terribly impressive watching a soloist dance by themselves unless it's some sort of intense routine. When they're just doing essentially para para, I'd rather see her interacting with her scenery... somehow. Admittedly it's a bit difficult since the "scenery" is pretty but not an actual place.

The B-side for limited B is actually a song called "Kaze no You na Melody". SmileR is the composer for her single <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... hahaha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hahaha:' />

I expected more than just a perfume imitation from Kikka... or rather the people who create the music for her to sing.

Yeah, this is pretty much intellectual theft as far the musical production goes. It's enjoyable enough, and I've never been one to chide a songwriter or producer for stealing a bit here and there -- no fan of Tsunku could and remain intellectually honest -- but this seems over the top to me.

If it does well it'll probably be because people who don't know any better will think it's a new Perfume single. Kinda like when Kingdom Come had a massive hit in the 80s with "Get It On" because Detroit radio station WRIF kept playing it without saying what it was or who it was by, and everyone thought it was a Led Zepplin comeback single.
I actually really like this. I like Kikka's voice, and she doesn't seem to be overly computerized as opposed to some of Perfume's songs. I love Perfume, though, so I doubt I'd have a problem with that anyway.
I do see the problems with the pretty overt similarities, though. This style is fun and easy to listen to, and if it manages to gain her more fans, I think that'd be great.
When I first heard a preview of this it got me deflated as her voice is so powerful. However, the later previews have softened it a touch and the vocals can be heard very well. It is also nice to see another different sound from her. Seriously her album has tonnes of different sounds and normally for a soloist that is trainwreck, but not for Kikka-sama

I like how all previews now feature Kikka's boobs.
Her version is really cute though. I can't quite tell how I feel about the instrumental since I'm listening on crap speakers at the moment, but it seems promising.
I have to disagree (to a point) that this new single is a Perfume rip off. I mean, yeah, it's derivative, but I have to make a bit of an observation.
Now, I know Kikkawa isn't in H!P itself, and I have no idea if Tsunku writes her music or not (especially considering that she's in Universal), but everyone in H!P has been getting electronic and autotuned songs lately, most likely because Tsunku is in a mood. Now, again, I have no idea if he has anything to do with Kikkawa's creative direction or anything, but I do imagine he can at least consult. To me, her getting an electronic-sounding thing, even if it is vaguely Perfume derivative, makes perfect sense. Especially considering the wave of H!P singles in the last few months.
Though feel free to correct me, because as far as creative goes I know the least about Kikkawa. This is mostly an observation based on what I can make conjecture with, from what I do know.

I'm pretty sure Tsunku has almost no involvement with Kikka. He definitely doesn't write for her. But I would agree that it's not just a "Perfume ripoff" - I would say that it's more likely that Kikka's producers (whoever they are) are trying to cash in on a trend. The electronic sound has done well lately - Kyary, for example, has really taken off. Yes, she's produced by Nakata just like Perfume, but I really don't feel like any one person can lay claim to "electronic music with lots of autotune."
I feel like that's what her PV should have been like in the first place. Not her being a vocaloid but all the effects in that video should be in hers somehow.
