But she's got such a wonderful comically expressive face that she's great in every video that gives her a few closeups and a little character. She has the best expression in "Madayade," when the office supervisor is giving her orders and she's eating a snack at her desk.

It depends on the country, of course. Americans generally get their moral outrage on if anybody under 18 is depicted in a sexy manner because that's the legal age for them to be naked in explicit materials (even though a lot of jurisdictions have lower ages of consent. It's a confused system that I don't believe many understand). But she is Japanese, so she can't even drink for a couple years.

Precisely. It also has nothing to do with getting angry or upset about anything, though it is rather insulting and pretty unnecessary to come into a thread meant to celebrate a certain member and throw in jabs about how much you don't like her while also accusing her fans of being sad enough to consider her or other affiliated girls as their "imaginary girlfriends." Other than that, this thread is rather good fun. I'm tempted to move part of this discussion to the member hate thread, but not sure if that's warranted yet and it may be even more out of context there unless paraphrased properly. But anyhow, carry on, everyone else.



Also, on the subject of ages, since a few people mentioned it, I think we've all been through this discussion before, but it always strikes me as funny how we always relate these issues to our personal situation, where we celebrate a girl being 18 because most of us are American and 18 is the American standard for "adulthood" so to speak, or legally, age of consent, though other countries all over the world have higher and lower "legal" age limits for young people. Its just a funny way to look at the situation that some of us may say (even jokingly) YES, SHE'S 18!, in someone else's country, the age may not be until 20, so there would be a "why is this a big deal" mindset <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />



And another fun query is putting the reality of the situation into context, its not like she lives in the US or even visits here to where her age would matter to us!! as an extra to this, you are still covered by your own countries laws when in a foreign country. So if an American came to England where the age of consent is 16 to them it would still be 18 and they could face prosecution when they step off the plane in America if a complaint is made.

What are you talking about? This is exactly why i complained about AEUG: taking words totally out of context and then making comments, while putting words in my mouth. I love Maimi. I have always adored Maimi and have consistently said that she is one of the prettiest girls in H!P and one of my favorite members (despite C-ute being overall uninteresting to me). Yet it is obvious that she isn't much of a talent. Similarly, I really like Mano but find it hilarious that she has all of 2 facial expressions in all of her PBs.



So...

Is it really that conceptually difficult to allow for both of these opinions to co-exist? Is anything other than blind and hyperbolic praise allowed now in fandom? Because if that is the case, then Koharu is the best singer ever because I like her Kirarin stuff and Takahashi has absolutely no discernible talent because I don't find her very pretty.
