Japanfiles.com to offer Morning Musume's digital catalog

Perhaps lost in the understandable excitement about Anime Expo is this information about Japanfiles.com. As a few sites have reported:

In coordination with this event, JapanFiles.com will release Morning Musume's digital catalog on its website, beginning with the release of the group's new single "Naichau kamo" on February 18, 2009. JapanFiles.com will also open a special Morning Musume store for fans with official goods from Japan.

The Hangry&Angry experiment was apparently deemed a success. Unfortunately, the phrase "digital catalog" seems as though it is not too special of a service. While their files are thankfully DRM-free, all their "MP3s are encoded at 192 Kbps. " The goods section might show some promise.

Oh dammit, FUCK Japanfiles. This means that livejournal communities won't allow posting of Hello Project related material anymore, because last time H&A's album was posted on the community it almost got shut down by, well I think you can guess who. Because they are so paranoid that no one will by their cds/digital music that's in crappy quality and people would rather have the actual albums on hand.

The goods section is something that I'm interested in... I have no idea as to what the usual "goods" are. Now, instead of having to browse through entries on ebay, I can see the (kind of) official store!!

I mainly download my stuff from LJ and KMC nowadays. Never use torrents except for concerts and any anime series I am keeping up to date with.

I usually find most things on gimme_hp and morning_musume. Though many things also get posted to the regular jpop uploads communities.

Of course it's not really $2.97. It's actually 3 credits at one credit per song. And, of course, you must buy 10 credits at minimum.

Funny, and probably very true. This is like what I was saying last year, when Minimoni was absent from the list of Mega Best albums. Minimoni was one of Hellopro's couple biggest acts of all-time, and normally there'd be no question that they'd have gotten one. And don't use the excuse that "all four members are inactive right now." Yaguchi and Tsuji were still part of Hellopro at the time. And come on, they even gave a Mega Best album to T&C Bomber (which only has one member left in Hellopro, and she has been very much "inactive" for many years). Now sure, they're not going to ban everything that Kago took part in, because then Morning Musume's catalog would get wrecked. But when it comes to stuff in which Kago was a permanent lead performer, we prolly won't see it getting re-released. This of course means "W," but it also applies to Minimoni.

This is a huge step in the right direction! But I'm torn. We don't technically have a reason to pirate anymore, do we? If the stuff is released officially on the same day at 320kb/s DRM-free, what's left? Can't afford it? Simply don't want to pay? Torrents show up days before the actual release? Might not like the songs? Planning on buying the actual CD, so I don't want to spend money twice?



That last one is what's getting to me. So, I'd like to express one simple wish for this: if I buy the CD, give me the mp3s while the CD ships.

I feel the same way. I'd love to download the mp3s, but I'd rather have the CD instead. xD MP3s don't come with CD booklets and extras. D: And if say... your computer happens to contract a virus and explode (not that has ever happened to me <img src='http://mm-bbs.org/public/style_emoticon ... stling.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sideways:' /> ) it's good to have a hard copy of the song. You lose a downloaded song you paid for, you have to buy it again and that's a total waste of money in the long run.

No, you don't. Most places remember what you've bought, and if you pay for it once they let you redownload it if you lose it. Though there's the argument that if they go under and then you lose the copy of the song, then you're out of luck.

Oh, I haven't bought any songs from it. It allows that with apps, so I figured it did with songs. Xbox Live also allows re-downloads, so I haven't come across something that doesn't allow them.
