Groups Overal for '16
 
Kobushi Factory - I was so sure one of the girls would have left by now, crumbled under the pressure, but they stuck together. Very strong start for a rookie group.
Country Girls - Released one of my favorite singles of 2016. Losing Manaka hurt them. I hope they can bounce back next year without Momoko too.
C-ute - I'm going to miss them. C-ute has always been stuck in the middle for me. Love the girls but their songs are really hit or miss for me. Their last single was probably the best I've heard since 2014.
Morning Musume'16 tied with ANGERME - Lack Luster Singles for Me plus, they graduated 2 of my favorite members within days of each other. So Sad.
Juice=Juice - Despite one single and their drama, they were too busy touring to really make a splash with me.
Tsubaki Factory - They are trying. Hopefully, 2017 is good to them, especially with their new members.

[Derby]

I did mine with Riho and Manaka because I wanted to vote for them.
 
From 1 to 8 there are the members who I really like and had a hard time to vote for one or the other. I also like from 9 to 28 and the girls after Taguchi Natsumi are just meh to me.
I don't know the members of Tsubaki at all so the only way I had to vote for them is whose face looks funnier.

Maria has come up there because of this single honestly. Her singing sounds awful in Sou Janai but her overall presence has increased. And Ikuta has come up high too thanks to Sexy Cat and Utakata. Haruka experienced the biggest drop as she was like 5th or so last time, I just don't find her that interesting even with her push in Sexy Cat.</div>

Honestly I haven't really listened to a lot of H!P this year lol. I tried to post something on the songs thread but that just made me realize how little H!P I've listened to this year. I only remember MM songs and not even that, now I'm thinking about the Utakata single and I can't even remember which is the other song besides My Vision (so apparently it is Tokyo, I wasn't even sure if the vision was released in that single or the previous one). What I want to say is that I haven't seen anything from Kasahara, I know I listened to one of their new songs once but I completely forgot about it.

Actually I might just do mine tonight and edit the new Momusu members later on

OK I am going to just post this now and romanize and compare later because I am technically really busy at work.  This one I think has actually changed a lot, Maimi has shot way up and Mai shot down.  And of course any tsubaki rankings take with a grain of salt because I don't pay attention to them at all so it was all just based on who they were against.

It's been a rough year for my interest in MM. Since Zukki's grad it's a bit easier to watch them (because I never feel like my oshi doesn't get what she deserves; Akane is a baby that can still grow and Haruna definitely gets her spotlight), but it's also become a bit boring. While I'm "meh" about most of the group, I came to dislike those that I never really liked even more. I know I'm unfair about some things but I honestly do not care. Erina's resting bitchface and her fake cuteness when the camera is on her, Masaki's horrible voice and attitude, Mizuki's blandness in everything. I came to prefer Ogata Haruna over so many members because while she can't sing for her life and is as stiff as a fridge she's cute on stage, she's fun, she's adorable - and I think she's getting really beautiful. Her eyes sparkle. Also, I think she's entertaining. 
Maria is a special case. She's ok. I'm okay with her being build up as another front girl, it's not like Ai was much higher on my list during PE either. I honestly don't mind her because I understand why they're pushing her. But I also honestly don't care about her.

Well, this hasn't changed since I started following °C-ute. I like them all except for Mai, but it's time for them to go.

Moe hit me like a wrecking ball. Damn, she's so damn cute. And she can sing! Kana dropped a bit, but I'm loyal. Momona is a baby so her being 8th doesn't really say anything, I'm sure she'll grow. I've lost hope for Rina though. Boring as heck. She could be the same as Mizuki, but Mizuki at least tries.
 
Juice=Juice

Karin makes her way up. I guess if a group is boring they can at least rely on those that are constantly able to perform well. I'm a bit worried about Sayuki, I prefer my vocalists to not sound like they're dying.

I knew I'd fall for Kobushi. Rio and Rena are pretty low, but mostly because I don't like their voices. Ayaka might not be the most entertaining member but damn that voice. I really like that it's so rich and that she sounds like she knows what she's doing.

I guess by now nobody is surprised about me being rather indifferent about Tsubaki. I love Kishimon and I do think Risa is cute. The rest, meh. Riko was a mistake and I just can't deal with Kisora (though I acknowledge that she's one of the better singers in the groups, but I prefer my idols to look like they enjoy themselves).

I'm going to rank the KSS. I wanted to wait till the weekend to do it since I basically posted this really late one night and I was too tired to add them in. My ranking is based on who I would most like to see debut, regardless of their abilities because I can only go by what I see in the clips they post on Hello!Station or the other Up-Front Web shows.

Danbara Ruru - Please just put her somewhere UF. 
Kaga Kaede - See above. They may not be the prettiest idols, but damnit it's what's inside that counts UF! 
Kitagawa Ryo - It's just wishful thinking that she could be amazing. She gives me serious Fujimoto Miki vibes (and Mika). But for all I know she could sound like a tin can in a garbage disposal. 
Kawamura Ayano - I love this Karin clone! And she's a Duu fan too. We already know what a Morning Musume looks like with Karin in it. xD So it's not impossible to see her in a main group or on her own front a new group.
Kiyono Momohime - She gives me vibes of Kago Ai, and you know how much I liked Kago Ai.
Noguchi Kurumi - Shades of Nakazawa Yuko, if she ever joined H!P as a kid. (She's even from Osaka!)
Yokoyama Reina- She's cute looking. Visually she's Idol ready.
Kodama Sakiko - Visually she looks ready but that never stopped UF from adding them to a group. 
Takase Kurumi - A former local idol, she' perfectly ready for a group of her own. But I doubt she's front girl material.
Kudo Yume - She looks Idol Ready, but again, have no idea what she sounds like.
Nishida Shiori - She's got a classic idol feel to her, I think she would do well in a group or added to one of the main groups. But I fear she might be a little timid. (Like Akane.)
Maeda Kokoro - Meh. She seems fine but could use with an image change if she debuted. Kind of like Maho. 
Ichioka Reina - Love her to bits, but she's not my favorite singer in the world.
Ota Haruka - Seems nice, but there's nothing really special I see about her.
Kanatsu Mizuki - Cute, kind of reminds me of Kaga. But not sure about her abilities as an idol.
Yoshida Marie - She could debut, but I feel like she might get lost in the group. Kind of like Sakurako
Ono Kotomi - She's got an interesting face but I don't know if that would be enough to not have her get lost in a group.
Yonemura Kirara - She needs to grow into her face.  She's creepy right now.
Yamazaki Mei - Suffers from Hagiwara syndrome. Looks way too young and unproven.
Yamazaki Yuhane - Needs to work on her smile. I feel like she'd shank me in my sleep.

How are you guys doing color text? I'm on the mobile version which doesn't have any formatting options but even when I switched to the full version of the site, the only extra option is to attach an image. There's no bar with options to change don't size or style or anything like that.

I loved Riho the very day I set eyes on her in 2012. She automatically became a permanent fixture as #1 idol of all time. I loved her more than MM itself. Slowly, my liking for Haruka grew. In 2014 I started to buy her goods, and she started to barely reach the same level of Riho in 2012. She was steadily growing, and I bought more of her stuff. Ls, trading cards, magazine clippings, a towel. I liked her as the companion to my Riho love. Then Riho announced her graduation two months ago. Within the first month I was like "At least I have Duu," but then at the turning point, in the last few weeks, I've become disgusted with her, wondering why I ever liked her or thought she was pretty, and I avoid looking at her, like I avoid the rest (but a little bit more). One reason is this girly thing she's starting now, and because they're pushing her to become one of the next centers, and fill the hole that to me should never be filled. So no, I don't like Kudou anymore. I was about to throw away everything I had accumulated but my mother saved it by taking it. And my friend took the one towel.

This was true then. But it wasn't that I disliked Duu, or even that she was "shit" to me. I liked her the most after Riho, and because I loved her so much the way I was feeling about MM reflected on her worse than it did the others, because it pained me. Some of you may or may not have noticed that she shot back up in my ranking! After 6~7 months, I started to heal a bit. I liked her again, it was slow but I'm back to almost the same point as before -- I just don't buy her goods. But that isn't special to her, I don't buy anything.

At the time of this some got really mad, and it created a discussion. It was my fault, because I was reacting so harshly. I apologize for that, which I couldn't do then. But I wanted to post this in case anyone remembered this incident, which probably no one did haha, and let you know what was up then!

MM hasn't changed for me, even with the addition of Kaede and the presence of Duu. It's still too painful, but I have gotten over enough to like Kuduu* again, and of course Kaede!

* During my, er, "dislike" time I called her Kudou. I called her Kudou because I felt like calling her Duu was from a time when it was different, and I couldn't call her that since I didn't feel the same anymore. Even when I began to 'like' her again, it still was too much. Now, I've gotten over that but since it was almost a year of calling her that it's a bit of a habit, and I bridge the gap with Kuduu!

I wanted to post this just for those who read that back then to know what was up! But I really don't want to start any argument about this, so if you want to say something that's not constructive, please don't!

^You know it's funny in a way. That's how I feel about Angerme right now. I can barely tolerate them even though there's nothing wrong with them. Kanon and Meimi were probably a lot higher in my ranking than I'd like to admit but it's like they ripped something out of me that isn't easy to replace. There are girls I like but not enough to care. Some days I look at Rina with pure disgust, wishing she left instead of Meimi. It hurts more when you know how talented they are and they really don't DO anything after they leave. At least Kanon is writing lyrics, but they aren't really the best songs. So it's kind of a wash.


I felt a bit of the same way when Kago left but it was okay because I just followed her to W, but then the scandal happened and I fell into the Buono bubble and Airi pretty much saved me from leaving all together. When Sakura came along she was pretty much already crowned as her replacement in my mind but I know at this point in time, if no one steps up, I have no replacement for if Sakura leaves. And I'll fall into the black hole of oshilessness.


It also doesn't help that Tsunku isn't 100% there anymore. He's the real reason I'm still here.

Thea, that's how I feel about MM as a whole, especially after 13th gen announcements and Maa-chan being injured. It's like, why even watch or care about them till the lineup changes?
 
I don't hate any of the girls anymore (Ikuta has been better than ever for me this year), but I only really like Maa-chan. So... My rankings for them would pretty much just be irrelevant. 
 
 
Angerme, on the other hand, has a lot of tough choices for me on who I would rank where, as I really like most the girls and the group dynamic as a whole. Even girls I didn't like there I've come to like. So altogether it seems like I've come to like more H!P idols on a general scale, but losing interest in groups at the same time. (MM, Juice, C-ute)
 
If I had to pick my top idols who I'd say are my favorite in H!P right now it'd be Maa-chan, MinaMina or AiAi. If Danbara debuted I'd put it at just her and MinaMina, but she's still in KSS so I don't count her yet.

I really haven't cared about anything MM has done since Kanon left. I like Maria but she's nowhere close to where Kanon was. And even O. Mai who is my current favorite H!P member isn't on the same level. I will admit Kaga is peaking my interest.
